iPhone 11 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip which one is the king?
Apple has announced its best iPhone
11 Pro Max. This iPhone is the best iPhone among all of the iPhone 11 family.
This phone supports new different technologies making this iPhone a class of
its own such as the new XDR and Dolby Vision which has never been used on
iPhone before.
Oppositely, Foldable screens are one of the most talked-about technological innovations of the last two years. Manufacturers are still busy testing how these displays work best. Samsung is one of these manufacturers and it has a different product from last year's approach. Introduced in February and also, it targets those who desire a more comfortable carrying a smartphone in your pocket or bag, whether in normal size. This foldable phone, which takes the form of a smaller device when folded in half, remained in our hands for two days. Although we do not have enough time for detailed examination; We used it extensively for two days to get to know the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, to see its strengths and capabilities, and to get an idea of whether it is useful or not. In this article, we will make a compression between Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and iPhone 11 Pro Max to see which one the king is.
Design & display.
Both
iPhone 11 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip are amazing. If you look from the front, it will be difficult to
distinguish the iPhone 11 Pro Max from last year's iPhone XS Max in the first
place. The notched screen that we met with the iPhone X for the first time and
the design created accordingly are also preserved in the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Rounded corners designed to match the screen, glass layers covering the front
and back completely, and a stainless steel frame surrounding the edges are
among the primary design elements of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip is a combination of glass and metal smartphone. We have said that a plastic layer surrounds the top of the foldable screen on the front. A metal skeleton wraps around the edges. There are two glass plates at the back. These two glass plates are connected to the mainframe and this mainframe is also hinged together.
Apple underlines that the glass used on both the front and
back of the iPhone 11 Pro Max was specially developed by Corning and is more
robust. It should be noted that we did not see any noticeable scratches on the
windshield while using the phone. However, we don't have enough data to make a
comment about the back, because right out of the box, we used the iPhone 11 Pro
Max with the transparent case specially released by Apple for this phone. For
this reason, the rear glass surface did not interact much with the external
environment during our use.
However, we can say a few words about the transparent case
at this point. The transparent case, using the same material as the transparent
case released for the iPhone XR for the first time last year, is made of hard
plastic. It fits well on the phone, but we feel occasional slight twists. While
it makes the iPhone 11 Pro Max a little thicker and heavier, it provides a better
grip and helps a little more in preventing the phone from slipping in one hand.
It also prevents the rear camera module from protruding, preventing that area
from touching the surface when the phone is placed on a table or similar.
Going back to the smartphone, the most important details
that will distinguish an iPhone 11 Pro Max from its predecessor are hidden
behind. We see that Apple is using both a different camera array and a
different type of material on the back. There are three cameras on the back and
these are placed in a square-shaped module in the upper left corner. Besides
the cameras, there are also flash and microphone. This section is designed from a shiny glass. The remaining glass surface has a matte texture. This frosted
glass-like glass surface was created by Apple with a special technique. It has
more friction against the glossy glass surface, which will contribute to
comfortably controlling the phone in case-free use.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max has a slightly larger surface area and
thickness than last year's XS Max model. At the same time 226 gr. slightly
heavier than its predecessor. When we hold each phone in both hands, we can
feel the difference in weight. However, we have to say that it does not create
a feeling of fatigue when holding the phone for a long time. Despite its
stylish appearance, the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which is a very robust phone, also
makes progress in water and dust resistance. This year's phone is also IP68
resistance, but unlike the XS Max, it can stay in water at a depth of 4 meters
for half an hour.
When we look at the edges, we do not see any difference
compared to last year's models. On the lower edge, there is a Lightning port,
speaker, microphone. On the left edge are the mute button, the volume keys. On
the right edge is the side button and a nanoSIM card tray. We also see that the
edges are cut by antenna lines at various points.
Even
though it has a foldable structure, the Galaxy Z Flip is a sturdy enough phone
and it feels like it. When using the phone open, the feeling of solidity it
offers is not much different from a normal smartphone. Nevertheless, we
recommend that you do not apply too much pressure when using the phone, as it
has a fragile hinge structure and you could split the phone into two parts.
On
the other hand, water, and dust resistance, which is a standard feature in
high-end phones is not available in this phone. Galaxy Z Flip owners should be
careful when using their phones in the rain or by the sea and pool in the
summer.
The
dimensions of the phone when open are 167.3 x 73.6 x 7.2 mm. It is a thin and
long phone, and the thickness is reasonable. Since the screen is long, it is
not easy to reach the top points when using it with one hand. The phone is 87.4
x 73.6 x 17.3mm when folded. it becomes a block of dimensions. In this way, it
can take less space in the bag and fit more comfortably in the pocket. However,
in our opinion, carrying the Galaxy Z Flip in the pocket offers less comfort
than carrying a regular phone. Thickness creates a disadvantage for comfortable
carrying in the pocket. Of course, there are habits at this point. Once you get
used to the shape of the foldable phone, you may not have any trouble.
Strong
magnets placed on the sides of the Galaxy Z Flip ensure that the phone's screen
closes tightly. Of course, this also causes some difficulty when turning on the
device. It is a bit troublesome to open the cover with one hand, and while
applying force, it may be possible for your fingernail to touch the screen and
damage it. For this reason, it would be better to use both hands while using
the cover of Galaxy Z Flip.
Galaxy
Z Flip's hinge structure allows the cover of the device to be held in different
positions. In this way, it is possible to manage the phone more easily in
different usage scenarios. For example, while taking a selfie photo, you can
open the phone at a 135-degree angle and put it on the table and do your work
comfortably. Or you can open the cover 90 degrees and put it on a table and
shoot fast with the rear cameras.
On
the edge of the Z Flip, the volume keys and the power button are placed on the
top plate to the right. There is a fingerprint reader on the power button. On
the bottom edge is the USB-C port, microphone, and speaker. The nano-SIM card
slot is on the left, towards the top. There is a second microphone at the top.
At the top of the main screen, there is a speakerphone on the bezel. On the
back, two cameras are arranged horizontally in a slightly protruding module.
Besides these, there is a flash. Next to the flash, we see the second screen.
As
far as display is concerned, iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with a 6.5 OLED screen which is called the Super Retina XDR, which offers an
impressive visual experience thanks to Apple's optimizations. It occupies 83.7
of the front of the device. iPhone 11 Pro Max has 2688 x 1242 resolution with
458 PPi, we have a screen that offers very clear and sharp images and texts.
When you look at the screen, the images are smooth, you cannot notice the
pixels with the naked eye.
The elements of the high experience offered by the screen
are not limited to resolution only. The OLED screen used by Apple offers
realistic and vivid colors thanks to its high black depth and contrast. In this
case, you can see the photos you take more realistically and make your
arrangements comfortably on your smartphone. On the other hand, the screen has
a brightness of up to 800 nits. This makes using iPhone 11 Pro Max more
comfortable in all conditions.
Apple says the iPhone 11 Pro Max's screen brightness is
automatically adjusted according to the content you're watching. For example,
while watching a movie, the screen brightness can reach 1200 nits depending on
the scene. In practice, the difference in high screen brightness appears. In a
very bright environment, it is possible to see how the screen brightness of the
iPhone 11 Pro Max, from which bright light is directed, automatically rises to
high levels. Meanwhile, Apple's True Tone technology is also available. In this
way, the color temperature of the screen is adjusted automatically according to
the light in the environment. We mostly used the iPhone 11 Pro Max in this
setting, especially when browsing websites, the difference is seen on white
backgrounds, eye comfort is increased.
The high brightness of the screen also offers an advantage
on the side of HDR support. iPhone 11 Pro Max's Super Retina XDR OLED display
offers Dolby Vision support as well as HDR10. You can see the difference in
this support, especially in movies you download from iTunes or some original
productions you watch on Netflix. Colors are more vivid, visual elements such
as clouds and smoke become a little more pronounced. The aspect ratio of the
screen is 19.5: 9. In most Netflix series, we did not prefer full-screen
playback, as getting to full screen causes clipping at the top and bottom. The
same is true for YouTube videos. However, the situation is a little better for
the 21: 9 aspect ratio movies that we download from iTunes or watch from
Netflix. Watching movies of that format on the full screen is enjoyable.
One of the elements that distinguished the screens of the
iPhone XS and XR models last year were 3D Touch technology. The screen, which
detects different pressure levels, could thus perform different functions. With
iOS 13, Apple made these functions depending on the software. Therefore, 3D
Touch technology was not needed. The experience offered on screens with 3D
Touch is again offered. Thanks to the new vibration motor, the movements
triggered when you press the screen are accompanied by a vibration that reminds
you of the old.
This high performance and visual richness of the screen is
accompanied by the sound side. The iPhone 11 Pro Max also has two speakers, one
placed on the bottom edge and the other on the handset speaker. Last year,
Apple made significant improvements in the sound output of stereo speakers with
the iPhone XS Max, making the stereo sound effect offered by them more
pronounced. While those improvements are maintained this year, an audio
technology that we've heard more and more like Dolby Atmos is supported.
Dolby Atmos makes it possible to feel the environmental
sound effect even better, especially in supported movies. Best of all, you
don't need any additional accessories to understand the difference between this
brace. The speakers of the iPhone 11 Pro Max have this support. This speaker
system, which has a very high sound output compared to a smartphone, allows you
to feel the direction of the sound comfortably in movies. Moreover, even if you
are on the back of the phone, you can easily hear the sound. This will be
especially useful when listening to music on your iPhone with your friends. The
bass and treble of the sound from the speaker is balanced and satisfying. Note
that it does not explode at the highest level.
Now an Apple classic, the iPhone 11 Pro Max does not have a
3.5mm headphone jack. EarPods with Lightning tips come out of the box. Ideally,
the iPhone 11 Pro Max would be to purchase a headset that will easily be paired
with this phone and work practices, such as AirPods or the new AirPods Pro.
However, let's point out that you can easily use your other wireless
headphones.
Samsung's most important point of the foldable phone is the screen, so in a separate
title, it is useful to detail this first. Galaxy Z Flip's foldable screen has
Dynamic AMOLED technology and is 6.7 inches from corner to corner. The screen
has a resolution of 1080 x 2636 pixels, 425 ppi pixel density. Samsung's
experience with the display is obvious, the company's AMOLED displays are very
good in terms of brightness, color vividness and contrast. We see the
reflections of this on Galaxy Z Flip. Full HD + resolution is also sufficient,
we can say that we do not have any problems with sharpness and clarity.
The
Z Flip's screen has an aspect ratio like 22: 9 that we don't see much on
smartphones. In this case, there are rather thick black bars on the edges of
16: 9 videos. You can fully spread YouTube videos to the screen, but in this
case, there will be considerable space losses at the top and bottom. In
Netflix, the image does not fully spread to the screen, the finish line of the
selfie camera is considered as the limit. We can say that the 22: 9 aspect
ratio does not cause that much trouble in games.
We
see that Samsung has carried the perforated screen approach used in Note 10 for
the first time to Z Flip. So, at the top of the screen, there is a hole
centered, and here is the selfie camera. This hole is not too big, naturally,
it does not cause much trouble in full-screen use and does not spoil the
visual.
The
underlying feature of Galaxy Z Flip's foldable screen was that it had a thin
glass layer. Plastic screens were used in foldable phones we have seen so far.
This is natural because you cannot bend the glass easily. Samsung took an
innovative approach to Z Flip. However, we have to say that this ultra-thin
glass is not one of the tough glasses we see on regular smartphones.
The
Z Flip's screen really feels like using a glass screen. Galaxy Fold, which we
had the opportunity to experience last year, has a harder surface compared to
the foldable screen. However, a layer of plastic also covers the Z Flip's
screen. So the surface where the user interacts with the screen is plastic. This
plastic surface is somewhat susceptible to scratches and bumps. Anyway, Samsung
says that you should approach the screen carefully during the initial setup of
the phone, and recommends that you do not apply too much force.
Apart
from the screen, there are also notable innovations in the hinge structure.
Last year, due to the original version of the Galaxy Fold, Samsung developed a
brand new hinge design on the new phone. The covers on the hinge heads prevent
foreign parts or dust from getting inside. When the device is turned off, the
back is completely covered with a cover that says Samsung on it. Fiber bristles
are also used inside, so even if something escapes, it is prevented from
penetrating the screen. Of course, the screen also seems very willing to pull
dust, as it has a plastic surface. If you see tiny dust particles in the edge
areas of the hinge, blow them gently instead of removing them with your hand.
One
of the most unpopular but inevitable facts of foldable phones is the wrinkle
that appears in the middle of the screen. There is also such a wrinkle on the
screen of Galaxy Z Flip. However, when you hold the phone in front of you
normally and use it or watch something, the noticeability of this wrinkle is
minimized. So, the feeling in a regular smartphone is captured. On the other
hand, the recess and protrusion in the section where the hinge is located is
not too much, so there is a relatively smooth transition. We see this when we
run our fingers over the hinge, and we even liked to do it. Of course, what
happens to the folding surface under which the hinge is located at the end of
long use is discussed.
A
relatively thick frame surrounds the foldable screen. Moreover, this frame is
slightly raised compared to the screen. We see that this thick frame does not
cause any trouble when using screen gestures. On the other hand, a small bumper
is placed in the corners below. In this way, when you turn off the phone, the
frame is prevented from hitting each other and wearing it.
When
you close the Galaxy Z Flip, there is a small gap in between. This situation is
generally not disturbing. However, when carrying it in your pocket or purse,
small parts may get in the way and damage the screen. Therefore, where you
carry the phone, small dust particles, thrush, etc. It will be useful to pay
attention to the absence of particles.
By
the way, there is a second screen on the outside of the foldable phone. This
screen, placed next to the camera, is generally used to display information
such as time, date, battery status. You can wake up the screen by double-clicking your finger. We couldn't find the required setting to keep it on
constantly. The same is true for settings that will also allow for
customization. A 1.1 inch, 112 x 300-pixel resolution screen is used for
functions such as displaying the caller when the phone arrives and displaying
the charge level when you connect it to the charger.
The
small screen on the outside works well when taking pictures. With the Z Flip
closed, you can open the camera by pressing the power button twice and use this
small screen as a viewfinder to quickly take a selfie. Or, if you want to take
a photo while the phone is on, you can activate this second screen and let the
person or people you are photographing see themselves here.
There
is a single speaker on the lower edge of the phone. The sound output and
quality of this speaker is good. We didn't feel too uncomfortable watching on
Netflix or YouTube, we didn't feel the need to wear a headset or use a
Bluetooth speaker. Just like the Galaxy S20 series, this phone comes with AKG
headphones. Headphones with USB-C tips offer a very satisfying sound output.
There is also support for Dolby Atmos. We recommend that you adjust the
equalizer and other settings in the sound settings before using it. The sound
quality offered by the handset speaker is also at a satisfactory level.
Operating System Processor
Both
phones offer extremely fast and powerful processors. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes with Snapdragon 855+,
and iPhone 11 Pro Max is powered by the brand-new A13 Bionic.
This Apple-designed processor has six cores. While 2 of these are designed for high-frequency and power-intensive jobs, the remaining four cores prioritize productivity-focused work. At the same time, the quad-core graphics processing unit is also within the Apple A13. Both processors are built using a 7nm process for extreme power efficiency, and they both have a neural engine on board for AI-related tasks.
In Geekbench 5 test, the Galaxy Z Flip scored 764 points for the single-core and 2636 points for the multicore. While the iPhone 11 Pro Max scored 1332 for the single-core and 3477 points for the multicore.

According to the operating system, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip runs on Android 10 with Samsung's famous UI 2.1user
interface that comes preinstalled on Samsung's 2020 model phones. One of the
most striking features of One UI 2 are application icons that look stylish, the
application menu with a page structure, the ability to find applications and
games easily.
Samsung
is introducing a screen called Samsung Daily to replace the Bixby Home screen
on its first flagship phones this year. This page, located on the far left
panel of the main screen, has weather, news, content recommendations from
Spotify and Netflix. It's a handy space, but you can turn it off if you don't
want to.
The
edge drawer, which we see in other Samsung phones, but not used much, functions
a little differently in Galaxy Z Flip. When you pull the drawer on the right of
the screen, you will see the applications you use the most. When you click on
the menu icon at the bottom of this bar, the multitasking applications menu
will appear and you will be able to open the application you want with another application
on the screen. Thanks to the foldable screen of the Galaxy Z Flip, it is
possible to transform the device into different shapes, so it is possible to
experience a different multitasking experience. Here, it is up to your
creativity to develop different usage scenarios.
Game
Launcher section is one of the remarkable applications. You can automatically
add all the games you have installed on the phone here. Game Launcher contains
settings like how long you played each game in total, YouTube videos about the
game and so on. You can also access Game Booster settings, which increase game
performance, from here.
Various
Samsung and Microsoft apps are available on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. There is
also a Smart Tutor application that offers remote service, exclusive to Galaxy
Z Flip. It also comes loaded with Google applications. Spotify, Netflix and
Facebook are also among the apps that come pre-installed. The good news is that
you are asked if you want to install these applications during the initial
setup. On the application store side, there are both Google Play and Samsung's
own store Galaxy Store.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max runs on iOS 13. With OS 13, significant progress is made in terms of both
performance and functionality. While there are various errors at the beginning,
Apple is pretty quick to turn them off. We did not see any problems on the
software side of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The experience we used to on iOS 13
devices continues in the same way. Especially during the installation of the
device, transferring files from the old iPhone or transferring via iCloud is
very practical and provides great convenience.
Dark Mode is one of the features that come with iOS 13 and
provides great comfort in the new iPhone. Dark Mode, which you can activate
either manually or automatically from sunset to sunrise, will make your eyes
more comfortable and save battery. Considering the OLED screen of the iPhone 11
Pro Max, we can say that the dark appearance on the iPhone 11 Pro Max
contributed greatly.
Storage, Price, and, Available Colors
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and iPhone 11 Pro Max price
depends on the selected variant. The basic variant of the Z Flip and the only one with 8GB RAM and 128GB variant, it will
cost you around 1,150.00USD on Amazon. The same variant will cost 1199.99USD on
eBay, while it will cost you around 1,449.99USD on AliExpress. It supports
either 2 SIM cards but it does not support an SD card. It is available in Mirror
Black, Mirror Purple, Mirror Gold, and Thom Browne Edition colors.
Meanwhile, the basic variant of iPhone 11 Pro Max with 4GB RAM and 64GB variant, it will cost you around 1099.00USD on Amazon. The variant with 4GB RAM and 256GB variant, it will cost 1200.00USD while the 4GB RAM and 512GB variant will cost you around 1400.00USD on Amazon. It does not have an SD card. While it goes with 2 SIM cards, one is physical and the other is eSIM. It is available in Good, Silver, Black, and the cool Midnight-Green colors.

Security and Ports
For security, The Z Flip comes with a
fingerprint sensor placed aside. Integrated with the power button, this unit is somewhat
cumbersome to use. When you lift the cover of the phone, you must move the
phone again in your palm and bring your finger to the contact point to access
the fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader is fast, but the hit rate is
slightly below ideal. Fortunately, you can
also use face recognition. Although you may compromise on security, it is a
fact that you will be more comfortable. The Z Flip also
supports the classical unlocking methods such as pattern and passcode. On the
other side, iPhone 11 Pro Max does not come with a fingerprint
sensor. It also unlocks using 3D face recognition which has been improved by
the years. Apple continues to develop Face ID with 2019 model iPhones. Face
screen unlock is a bit faster than before. Now, as soon as you turn on the
phone's screen, you will see the lock icon unlocked at the top of the lock
screen. It also supports the same classical unlocking methods which the Z Flip has such as pattern and passcode.
As of ports, the Z Flip supports Bluetooth 5 and NFC. It supports VoLTE
and WiFi Calling. It doesn't support a 3.5mm headphone jack. Whereas the 11 Pro
Max supports Bluetooth 5 and NFC. It also supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling. It
comes with USB-C.
Battery and Charging
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comprises a powerful Li-Ion battery with a
capacity of 3330mAh. We
are used to seeing batteries of 4000 mAh and above in flagship phones. That's
why the battery capacity of the Z Flip is just below average. When we look at
the performance it offers, we see that it can take a day off from morning to
evening with normal intensity use. However, if you use the phone heavily for
your job or if you overdo it with watching or playing games, you may need to
charge it a second time during the day. The phone will provide the opportunity
to watch videos on Netflix or YouTube for about 5-6 hours continuously at full-screen brightness. Let's make a note of this. iPhone 11 Pro Max provides an even more powerful
Li-Polymer 3969mAh battery. This is a core difference. And both phones offer
fast charging.
A
15W charger adapter comes out of the box. There is no such fast charging
facility as in the Galaxy S20 series. Still, it is possible to charge the
Galaxy Z Flip relatively quickly with its own charging accessory. In just over
half an hour, the phone's battery is 50 percent charged. It takes about one and
a half to two hours to reach full capacity. Note that the phone is turned off
during this test. If the phone is on, the times will increase a little more.
Galaxy
Z Flip has wireless charging support. You can charge it with a device that
supports the Qi wireless charging protocol. However, wireless charging is
naturally slow. Generally, if you want to charge the Galaxy Z Flip from night
to morning, it will be practical to use such an accessory.
Let's give an example, start using the iPhone 11 Pro Max
with 90 percent battery charge; As a result of an intense use of activities
such as photographing, sharing video stories on Instagram, surfing on social
media, using Personal Hotspot for about three hours, listening to radio over 3
hours over 4.5G, surfing the internet and reading updates on social networks,
After 24 hours, we saw that there was a 75 percent occupancy left.
iPhone 11 Pro Max will make a workday comfortable even for
those who use their phone heavily. You can easily take the phone from the
charger in the morning and use it until the evening without running out of
battery. We estimate that most normal users will need to recharge their phones
every 1.5 days. As a result, the battery performance of the iPhone 11 Pro Max
will delight most users.
There is also progress in charging. Apple eventually gave up
its insistence on a 5W charging adapter, at least for the iPhone 11 Pro and 11
Pro Max. The 18W charger adapter we have seen on iPad Pro for the first time
comes out of the box. There is also a USB-C to Lightning cable. In the charging
test we carried out, we saw that it was reached from 0 percent to almost 50 percent
in half an hour. It took two hours to reach full capacity. Let's also mention
that the phone is on during this time. As a result, although it offers a slower
charging performance than the 30W charging adapter sold separately by Apple, it
offers faster charging than before with the charging adapter that comes out of
the box.
iPhone 11 Pro Max also has fast charging support. You can
conveniently charge this iPhone with accessories that support Qi wireless
charging. Wireless charging is slow on this year's iPhone, as was the case with
previous years' iPhones. But if you have a practical solution and enough time,
you can charge your smartphone this way.
Camera
iPhone 11 Pro Max goes
with a similar 12-megapixel triple-camera on the rear as clarified: 12Mp ( ultrawide
with f\2.4),12MP( wide with f\1.8), and 12MP( telephoto with f\2.0). iPhone 11
Pro Max has a 12MP wide front-facing camera with an f\2.2 and SL 3D biometrics
sensor. In contrast, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip also has a similar 12-megapixel dual-camera
on the rear, 12MP( ultrawide with f\2.2), 12MP ( wide with f\1.8). On the
front, you see a 10MP camera with f\2.4.
In still, In broad daylight, the main module progresses slightly. The
rendering is more precise and the image processing less destructive for
details. In contrast, in our test scene, the image is a bit cooler than before.
Apple's smartphone even holds a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 at bay, yet far from bad
in the exercise. A great performance. On the other hand, the iPhone 11 Pro
suffers from a slight optical defect which causes loss of quality in the
corners of the images. instead, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip does well. We note
all the same a certain tendency to overexposure and accentuation of contrasts. The
colors are rather saturated and the shots lack a bit of naturalness. This
will have the merit of being flattering.
To put the iPhone 11 Pro's night mode to the test, we went -
once is not customary - to the cellar. Our favorite statue is only lit by a
small stream of light coming from a skylight. To shoot it, we used the
automatic mode offered by the iPhone 11 Pro - which uses its night mode. Apple
told us: its night mode will not make people believe that it is daylight. This
is indeed the case, but electronic noise is very present and causes a lot of
information to be lost.
contrastingly, In low light, Samsung's image processing is easily recognized. It combines a strong smoothing which loses a lot of small details and an emphasis which aims to restore a feeling of precision. The Galaxy Z Flip is quite a far cry from the best in the business, even though it manages to deliver fairly good overall stage exposure.
In low light, again, the iPhone 11 Pro shows an improvement
over its predecessor. Above all, our test pushes the iPhone to use its new
"night" mode. It is intelligently activated automatically when
conditions require it. In our scene, the rendering in automatic mode is , therefore, more satisfactory than that of the Galaxy Note 10, which also tends
to smooth in the areas.

As for the iPhone's 2x zoom, by day, it isn't the best. As often, there is a fairly visible degradation of the image compared to the wide-angle. Electronic noise is more present and loses precision in small details. Opposite, the Galaxy Note 10 manages to produce more detailed images, despite a certain pallor.
Ultra-Wide shots, In broad daylight, the apple brand is very present. Without excelling in the details rendered at a very wide angle, the shots display an excellent level. As almost always with the iPhone, the image processing favors warm tones and natural rendering. The approach of a Galaxy Note 10+ is slightly different in the exercise. Samsung plays more on the accentuation to reinforce the feeling of details. One of the strengths of the super-wide-angle iPhone 11 Pro is that it maintains the right level over much of the image - except in the corners, suffering from barrel distortion. On the edges, the Galaxy Note 10+ gives the feeling of forcing the line, which is not the case with the iPhone 11 Pro.
Reversing it, the Z Flip does not rank among the best. Then
again, the level of detail is not as high as you would expect from a high-end
smartphone. Compared to the Galaxy Note 10+, the Z Flip displays
overplayed saturation and overexposure of the stage.
In low light, the iPhone 11 Pro fails to maintain this image
quality. Like most smartphones, the degradation of the images is obvious.
Electronic noise is very present, but Apple decides not to apply excessive
smoothing. Again against Samsung's Galaxy Note 10+, the iPhone 11 Pro is not
ridiculous. The Korean terminal offers better exposure but at the cost of
poorly managed artifacts in the smoothing process. What is interesting is that
Apple has chosen a trigger at 1/15 s for 2000 ISO, against 1/8 s and 1250 ISO
for the Note 10+. In practice, the iPhone 11 Pro prefers to focus on the
sharpness of a subject to the correct exposure of it.
On the flip side, the low-light shots from the ultra-wide-angle module are poor. Unfortunately,
this is a defect that we find on a lot of smartphones. Even the Galaxy
Note 10+ falls short on this point.
If Apple is no longer a source of innovation and arrives
after the others, it must be recognized that there is often a little something
more. For the ultra-wide-angle, the iPhone 11 Pro offers an interesting
function. When capturing a photo with the main module or zoom, the screen also
shows what the module sees with the wider field of view. This sometimes allows
you to realize that you can switch to ultra-wide-angle to get a better framing.
It is also possible to record both shots at the same time, so that you can
later choose the best one.
The photo application knows some changes in its interface.
Features such as flash, aspect ratio, filters, or even the self-timer are placed
so that they can be used more easily with one hand. Launching a video can now
be done directly by sliding the trigger button up or holding your finger on it.
Burst capture is accessible by sliding the shutter button down. Very small
novelties of course, but always well thought out.
Apple renews its famous Portrait mode, which cuts out the
subject in the foreground and creates a background blur. It remains at present
one of the most efficient, even if it still happens to stumble on some mugs.
The iPhone 11 Pro also introduces a new mode for portraits called
"lighting in high mono values". It produces black and white shots and
simulates a white background.
At the same time, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip offers a capture mode called Single Take. It
allows you to capture a sequence from which several shots are taken with
different effects, time-lapse, slow motion, or loop videos ... A whole bunch of
shots based on the best moments detected by the Z Flip's AI. The results
of this mode are sometimes astonishing, sometimes disappointing. A
function to be reserved for the most creative, no doubt.
For video, the iPhone 11 Pro climbs to a UHD definition in
60 fps. It is one of the small number of smartphones to deliver very
high-quality images in this definition, without sacrificing fluidity or slowing
down. The 11 Pro is also equipped with the "audio zoom" which allows
you to orient the capture of sound during recording according to the focal
length used.
That said, no 8K video to eat with the Z Flip. Unlike the Galaxy S20s,
Samsung's folding mobile has to be content with filming in UHD at 60 fps, which
is more than enough for most users. Video rendering is like that of
photos: satisfactory in good light conditions and rather poor in low light. The
Z Flip is quite good at tracking subjects thanks to its powerful autofocus.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy Z Flip offers a front photo module and the 10 megapixels of its sensor are correct. The shots captured are pretty good overall, as long as the lighting is good. Otherwise, smoothing takes over and loses details on the faces.
Conclusion
It would not be wrong to call the iPhone 11 Pro Max the best
iPhone model Apple has to offer right now. The iPhone 11 Pro is pretty much the
same, but due to the smaller screen and correspondingly low-capacity battery,
it is one step below the 11 Pro Max. However, those who do not like big screen
phones such as iPhone 11 Pro Max; For those looking for a more compact yet
capable phone, the iPhone 11 Pro will be an accurate and cheaper choice.
Going back to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, although it follows the
line of last year in terms of design, the renewed back design and matte surface
win our appreciation. We're happy with the space gray color we have, but the
night green color looks a bit more appealing. Moreover, it will make it clearer
that you are using a new iPhone. We see the quality screen we expect from a
flagship iPhone, and even more on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. On this screen, not
only watching movies or browsing the web, but doing things in the productivity
and creativity class seems quite enjoyable. Of course, the performance offered
by the Apple A13 Bionic makes this possible. The sound quality is also at the
best level we can see in a smartphone. On the battery side, we see that Apple
is making really noticeable progress. The iPhone 11 Pro Max seems not to let
even those who use their phone heavily down easily.
As we mentioned in the review, the biggest area where the
iPhone 11 Pro Max and its siblings make a difference is the camera. Thanks to
the triple rear camera system and new features added accordingly, the iPhone 11
Pro Max is able to compete with professional DSLR machines. The photos we took
with the iPhone 11 Pro Max impressed us immensely. We think that the advances
on the video side will also contribute to this device being the choice of many
video producers.
On the flip side, Last year, the Galaxy Folder has never been fortunate to see in many countries due to its hot price. This year, it is the other way around. It seems that Samsung has learned the necessary lessons from its experience last year. Galaxy Z Flip is a good example that reveals the point where foldable-screen phones have come. It is a highly robust, yet useful foldable phone. We can also say that a phone worth nearly 2,000USD with its design and material quality.
Apart
from being a foldable phone, Galaxy Z Flip offers the performance expected from
a high-end phone. The screen is of good quality, high performance, but lags
behind its competitors at the same price level in terms of battery life. The
software and some tools developed for the foldable screen are also useful. Its
camera will also meet your needs.
