Oppo Reno 3 Pro: Display, Price, and Specifications in 2020
the Oppo Reno series,
which debuted last year, is showing rapid progress. We saw the third generation
of members in China late last year. In early 2020 we saw different variants of
the Oppo Reno 3 series, since the beginning of May. Two models in the Reno 3
series are sold in the country. The first of these, the Reno 3, is a
mid-segment phone and we have conveyed the details in the Oppo Reno 3 review .
Another product, Reno 3 Pro, draws attention with its superior features and its
design and material quality that approach a little more flagship phones. Also,
the technical features are shifting in that direction. In this article, we will
give you a quick review regarding the Reno 3 Pro.
Design & Display.
The Oppo Reno 3 model comes with a plastic and glass
combination body. In contrast, Oppo has used glass and metal on the higher-priced Reno 3 Pro to make this phone feel close to that of high-end Android
phones. The front and back are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass. The
screen curves sideways, creating a symmetrical appearance on the front and
back. The edges are surrounded by a frame made of aluminum. It is relatively
light, with a weight of around 175 grams, and we feel it when we pick up the
phone. The phone does not feel too heavy in the hand.
The phone is comfortably held in hand, and it will be
possible to easily reach most of the screen and benefit from the basic
functions of the phone with one hand. The screen protector comes with the film
attached, and a transparent case comes out of the box. However, we preferred to
use the Reno 3 Pro without a case. There were no noticeable scratches or
abrasions. When we looked carefully at the aluminum section surrounding the
edges, we saw very small deformations, they are also at a level that can be
ignored. At the same time, although we dropped it from a height of 30-40 cm
several times, there was no damage to the body.
The previous two generations of Oppo Reno series were
different from other brands' phones in terms of design. It contained remarkable
design elements. For example, the pop-up selfie camera mechanism in the shape
of a shark fin was used on both the Reno and Reno 2 models. Also, a small
hemisphere on the back that prevented the camera from being scratched was a
small but nice design element. In addition, the protruding of the cameras was a
remarkable detail. In the Oppo Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro, we see that they do not
continue. Oppo has adopted the design of other phones we've seen in the market.
Perhaps the company chose to follow a guaranteed policy, seeing that users
generally show interest in such designs.
As a result, we have a selfie camera placed in the screen
hole on the front, and a camera module that contains four cameras and flash
arranged vertically in the upper left corner and slightly protruding outward.
However, Oppo refers a little to the old when it comes to the color scheme on
the back. When you hold the Reno 3 Pro to the light, we see a little reflected
lines. This can be recorded as a nice design element.
The Reno 3 Pro has a USB-C port, microphone, nano SIM and
microSD card tray on the bottom edge. Also, one of the speakers is located
here. The second speaker is placed at the top of the screen. On the upper edge
is the second speaker. There is the power button on the right side and the
volume keys on the left side. These are located within easy reach when you hold
the phone naturally. The key depth is not high, we can say that it is
comfortable to use even though we feel slight resistance.
As far as display is
concerned, Oppo Reno 3 Pro comes with a 6.50 Super AMOLED display with curved
edges. The screen occupies 87.0% of the front of the device. The Reno 3 Pro has
a 1080 x 2400 resolution with 405 PPI. This value is enough for a sharp and
clear visual experience. Oppo underlines that this screen has a screen
brightness of up to 500 nits. We did not measure this value, but the screen of
the Reno 3 Pro is bright enough and provides good visibility outside.
With the use of
AMOLED screen technology, opportunities such as wide viewing angles, a good
view under sunlight, and taking advantage of the constantly on screen features
even when the screen is off are provided.
The corners of the Reno 3 Pro's screen are rounded and
matched to the body of the phone. The selfie camera hole in the upper left
corner has been kept as small as possible. In this way, it does not scratch
much when watching videos or playing games in full screen. The long sides of
the screen are curved sideways. 90 Hz refresh rate is one of the features of the
screen. This feature is set automatically by default, determined by the
context. If you want, you can choose the 90 Hz option. You can see the
difference in this high refresh rate while browsing the user interface or
scrolling while browsing the web. Of course, the difference in this high
refresh rate can also be seen in games. Of course, this is slightly higher
battery consumption in return.
The Reno comes with the MediaTek HelioP95 CPU. It comes with
8 cores and 12nm build.
Regarding the GPU, The Reno 3 GPU is the PowerVR.
In Geekbench 5, Oppo
Reno 3 Pro GPU scored 396 points for the single-core and 1508 points.
According to the operating system, The Reno 3 Pro runs Android
10 with ColorOS 7 UI. In our previous Find X2 Pro review, we explained what
innovations this user interface offers. Although it looks quite different to
pure Android, we find this user interface generally neat. There is a clear
Settings menu. At the same time, in terms of customization tools, Oppo offers
users more options with ColorOS 7.
You can quickly adjust many settings of the phone from Quick
Settings, which can be accessed through the notification tray. The Smart
Assistant panel on the far left of the main screen has tools you might want to
have at hand, such as Quick Functions, Step Tracker, Favorite Contacts and
Weather. We've seen many Oppo smartphones so far, but there hasn't been much
progress in third-party app support in this area yet.
One of the useful tools in ColorOS 7 is the Smart Sidebar,
which is located on the right side of the screen and opens when pulling towards
the middle. There are screenshot and screenshot tools in this area. In
addition, applications such as Messages, File Manager, Calculator that are
thought to be at hand at all times have been added. Also, you can add your
favorite apps here and open them quickly. Moreover, this smart sidebar also
allows you to open two applications in split windows at the same time. Open
this bar while in any app and drag the app you added to the screen. If the app
supports the split window, you can use two apps simultaneously on the Reno 3 Pro's
large screen.
It comes loaded with various Google applications. You can
also download the apps or games you want from the Google Play Store. Various
tools are also loaded in the Tools folder. Among them, Phone Manager will help
you optimize the performance of the phone and use it more efficiently. By the
way, an office application such as Office Suite, an automatic video creation
application called Sloop, and Playground, which increases performance and
experience during gameplay, is also installed on the Reno 3 Pro.
PUBG game started with high settings and the smoothness was
good. The device supports GameSpace mode, which will enable you to know the
battery percentage and Internet connection. It also blocks notifications while
gaming. It also offers 3 gaming modes: the first one is called the competition
mode. This mode provides the best gaming performance. The second mode is the
Balance mode, which balances the performance of the device with the gaming
performance. The third mode is called the Low Power Mode, which consumes less
energy while gaming.
Storage, Price, and available colors.
Oppo Reno 3 Pro price depends on the selected variant. The
basic variant of Oppo Reno 3 Pro with 8GB RAM and 128GB variant. The variant
with 8GB RAM and 256GB variant. Unfortunately, we have no idea how much
it costs. It does not have an SD card. While it goes with 2 SIM cards, one is
physical and the other is eSIM. It is available in Aurora Blue, Midnight
Black, and Sky White colors.
Security and Ports.
On the security side, the Reno 3 Pro device unlocks using an
in-display fingerprint sensor. Oppo's mid- and high-end phones have in-screen
fingerprint readers standard and work well. The same goes for the Reno 3 Pro.
We have used the fingerprint reader throughout our experience of the phone and
this unit works just fine. If you want, you can take advantage of face recognition
with the help of the selfie camera located in the upper left corner of the
screen.
As of ports, the
device supports Bluetooth 5 but unfortunately, it doesn't support NFC. It also
supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling. It also
supports a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Battery and charging.
Oppo Reno 3 Pro comprises a powerful Li-Polymer 4025mAh
battery. And this phone offers fast charging.
Today, this value has
started to be considered as the average value for most smartphones. In normal
intensity use, Reno 3 Pro helps its users to enjoy a day comfortably. In fact,
when used a little more sparingly, it will take the second day a lot. Fast
charging is one of the biggest weapons of the phone on the battery side. With
the VOOC 4.0 fast charge supported adapter out of the box, 68-69 percent
fullness can be reached in just half an hour. The battery can be fully charged
in just over an hour. Thus, your chance to use the Reno 3 Pro without being
connected to the socket too much, seems quite high. Although the back is covered
with glass, the Reno 3 Pro does not have wireless charging feature.
Camera.
Oppo Reno 3 Pro comes with a quad- rear camera as
mentioned: 64Mp (wide with f\1.7), 8MP (ultra-wide with f\2.2), 13MP (telephoto
with f\2.4) and 2MP ( W\B for depth). The cameras come with dual-LED flash and
support OIS. The Reno 3 Pro has a dual front-facing camera: 44MP ( wide
with f\2.4 )and 2MP ( for depth with an f\2.4 ) with support for HDR and AF for
incredible shots.

As for the smartphone when we look at the camera
application, we see a regular design. There are tools such as filters, HDR,
flash, bright color that you want to have at hand at any moment on one side of
the screen. On the other hand, there is a bar to switch between Photo,
Portrait, Night and other shooting modes. There is also a control on the
viewfinder to switch to wide-angle or zoom. You can also use facial
beautification for the rear camera.
On the Reno
smartphone there is sufficient light intensity, you can take bright and vivid
pictures with the Reno 3 Pro, inside or outside. The photos are also good on
details. The noise effect is also low in photos taken in low light. At the same
time, we do not encounter any turbidity. HDR performance is also good, the
distribution of light is balanced at the points where the light and dark areas
are together, and the details can be detected even in dark areas. The focus is done
well in macro shots.
On the colors side, it goes a bit on the warm side, but
generally, those who like vibrant color photos will be pleased with the
performance of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro. The Reno 3 Pro also performs satisfactorily
in photos with blurred backgrounds. Determining the border of the foreground
and background is good if we put aside the losses in the thin hair strands,
The 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front also has HDR
support. It is possible to obtain slightly better results in this way even in
places where the light is wrong. The selfie camera will also produce good
results in low light conditions.
on the Oppo, we see
that the most 4K video recording is made, and this is at 30 frames per second.
While only the main camera has optical image stabilization, with the help of
electronic image stabilization you get steady images not only when you shoot
normally but also when you zoom in. The sound recording quality is also at a
good level.
The glass and metal combination design of the Oppo Reno 3
Pro does not look like a high-end phone. On the screen, this phone offers a
satisfying visual experience. All of the features we see in high-end phones,
such as high resolution, comfortable outside viewing, curved edges, and 90 Hz
refresh rate, are all on the Reno 3 Pro's screen. The Snapdragon 765G processor
is perhaps not at the level of a flagship phone, but at a level that will meet
the needs beyond everyday tasks and offer good gaming performance. The battery
with a capacity of 4020 mAh also takes a day off easily. VOOC 4.0 fast charging
is also on the record as one of the strengths of the Reno 3 Pro.
It is one of the pluses to come with Android 10. ColorOS 7
may not be too much for pure Android fans, but the customization possibilities
are rich. In this way, you can create a layout that you like. On the other
hand, the Playground provides a slightly more convenient environment for those
who want to play games on this phone. The quad-camera system also works well.
Oppo Reno 3 Pro will meet your needs not only in daily life but also in your
special days.
Normally, between
250-300USD were acceptable levels for mid-upper segment phones. However, due to
the situation of the foreign currency, the range that will be accepted as the
"new normal" in this segment was between 300-350USD. Therefore, when
we look at the features, experience, and performance, we can say that 320USD was
paid. What do you think? Have you lied an eye on this smartphone? Do you
recommend it? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
