Samsung Tab S6 and iPad Pro which one is the king?
In 2019, Samsung changed its approach to the formation of
model lines, this is clearly visible in the smartphone segment, but exactly the
same thing happened for tablets. The key task was the optimal price/quality
ratio in each of the segments where the products are presented - from the
inexpensive A-series to the top models with the S index. Formally, until
recently, the flagship in tablets was Tab S4, it had a glass body, aesthetics,
very strong difference from the current generation of tablets, such as the S5e.
Now all tablets lead to the same style, these are thin metal
cases. We like this approach, since such tablets are less covered with
handprints, and it is much more convenient to hold them in your hands.
Considering that these are either bedside devices at home, or they are used for
travel, the orientation towards lighter weight and size (thickness) is quite
justified.
What does a flagship mean for Samsung? The answer is very
simple - this is the maximum capabilities out of the box. Fast charging, the
best screen available on the market, the longest-lasting battery, the presence
of the LTE version, which is the main one, normal cameras, and further down the
list. That is, take the best you can add to your tablet and turn it into your
ultimate work tool or entertainment device. In this article, we will give you a
quick review regarding the tab S6.
In different cases, with the Apple A12Z Bionic, although a smaller step has been taken on the
processor side compared to the previous generations, the 2020 iPad Pros are the
most powerful tablets on the market. The differences with the 2018 model
tablets are not huge, but they are all forward and useful steps. It is worth
buying one of the 2020 model tablets by giving the difference. Of course, more
investments are needed to properly use the iPad Pro. With the Apple Pencil and
especially the Magic Keyboard, the tablet's experience goes up and becomes a
challenge to laptops.
Design & Display.
The back wall is made of aluminum, the metal is brushed, and
there are no hand marks on it, which is very pleasing. In the hollow there is a
mount for the S Pen, the pen is included. The color of the handle is made in
the color of the case, there are no differences here.
Tablet dimensions - 244.5x159.5x5.7 mm, weight - 420 grams.
Very lightweight, it is easy to hold it in your hand even for a long time, and
it does not matter, with or without a case. Also, the tablet is very thin,
which does not cause any hassle. But you look at it and wonder how miniature
the electronics have become, the thickness of the device makes an impression.
The disadvantage of the S Pen mount is that it is
magnetically attached, and if you carry the tablet in a bag, the pen will
constantly fly off, just touch other objects. In your hands, the pen will fly
off only if you turn the tablet. In transport, this can result in the loss of
the S Pen. Therefore, for everyone who uses the S Pen, the use of the case
becomes a necessity, it has a flap for the stylus, it is impossible to lose it.
It also cannot fly off.
When the pen is in place, the tablet lies on a flat surface
slightly at an angle, which is good, because it makes it easier to type text or
browse the web. But we emphasize that the cover is becoming a vital necessity.
Alas, any attachment without a rigid fixation for the stylus is unreliable and
allows you to lose it.
On the right side, there is a coupled volume rocker and an on
/ off button. In landscape orientation, this is the top edge. On the side ends
there are speakers, there are four of them, and they are tuned by AKG
engineers. Very loud, the volume margin is such that in most cases we crank the
sound by 50-60%, it is simply unnecessary and uncomfortable to listen at this
level.
There is a POGO connector on the lower side edge, it differs
from the Tab S4, so you won't be able to use the same accessories, for example,
a keyboard cover, they are different. There is also a magnet for attaching a
keyboard or cover. Inserts of antennas for Wi-Fi and LTE are visible on the
case, there are no problems with the signal quality, antennas are not blocked
in the hands, the signal level remains the same plus or minus.
Reversing it, As mentioned above, in terms of design, the
2020 iPad is no different from the tablet that came out a year and a half ago.
Both the 11-inch model we have and the 12.9-inch model have the same dimensions
as their predecessors. Only in terms of weight, this year's models are slightly
ahead. We can attribute this difference to the increasing number of cameras and
the growing camera module. Again, there is a design that combines aluminum and
glass. On the front, the screen takes up a large area and reaches a ratio of
82.9 percent. The bezel that wraps around the screen has the same thickness on
all four sides. The TrueDepth camera system is also placed in this frame. The
corners of the screen are curved to match the corners of the tablet. The edges
are straight.
On the back, the biggest difference compared to the previous
generation product is the square camera module. Thanks to this camera module,
it is possible to separate the iPad Pro 2020 from the 2018 model. In terms of
appearance, it is similar to the camera module in iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro
and includes the main camera as well as an ultra-wide-angle camera, LED flash,
microphone, and LiDAR sensor.
The new iPad Pro also carries a USB-C port. There are a
total of four speakers, two of which are located on the sides of this port and
the other two are on the opposite side. There is a power button on the top
edge. The volume keys are also placed on the right side, close to it. Of
course, when defining these elements, we assume that you hold the tablet
upright and the TrueDepth camera system above the screen. You can use the iPad Pro
any way you want, but be careful not to cover the front camera when using it in
landscape mode. Otherwise, Face ID will not work. Other than that, Face ID works
fine no matter how you hold the tablet.
on the right side, there is the nano-SIM card tray placed
towards the bottom. The area between the volume keys and the SIM card tray is
the magnetic section designed to charge and store Apple Pencil. On the back, a
three-point connection point located towards the bottom edge, in other words, the Smart Connector, enables connection with accessories such as the Smart
Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard.
This is an excellent display, simply the best in its class,
it has no direct competitors. Adaptive brightness, color temperature, and other
settings let you choose how the colors on the screen appear for you. Samsung
doesn't call this screen Dynamic AMOLED, as it does on the latest generation of
smartphones, but in fact, it is. A separate RGB sensor adjusts the brightness of
the screen to the lighting conditions, this is a Samsung proprietary chip, which
was adopted by Apple and called TrueTone, but they did it much later.
Subjectively, the screen is very similar to those of the S10
+, Note10 / 10 +, it belongs to the same generation. There are no alternatives
for such a screen today, it behaves equally well both in the sun and indoors,
you see exactly the same picture. The color gamut is maximum, the color
rendition is accurate. When shooting with the camera, exactly the same
approach, you see what you get, no color distortion.
For a tablet, it is the screen that becomes the key
characteristic, this is where you constantly look, and there are no problems
with it. This is simply the best you can get on the market right now. Apple's
IPS screens, they are not bad, but they will start to install AMOLED much later
then Samsung, although they realize all the advantages of technology, but the
prices for such devices will become even higher and even more inadequate.
The responsiveness of the screen, the speed of the interface
- all these are the advantages of this model, and it is impossible to say that
here it can lose in something and in something to someone. It is the flagship
with the best technology you can buy. No screen maker other than Samsung has
similar components at the moment.
The tablet has a system of two microphones, this allows you
to use noise reduction when talking in instant messengers or on a cell phone
(in the LTE version, the tablet does not differ from a smartphone, you can use
it as a phone).
The key feature of the Tab S6 is support for the S Pen out
of the box, you don't need to buy a separate "pen", as Apple suggests
to do it and asks for some 69.00USD. Everything is included here, and this is
how it should be.
To begin with, because of the desire to magnetize the S Pen
to the body, it was made relatively flat, there is no comparison with the
stylus in the Tab S4, it was noticeably better there.
We had to adjust before learning how to use this S Pen, as
accidentally pressing a key while writing or drawing caused unnecessary
commands. Not ideal, a compromise, but you can use any S Pen with this tablet,
another thing is that control gestures will not be supported.
Similar to the Note10 / 10 +, this S Pen has a new type of
battery, it charges in less than a minute, after which you can use the stylus
for about 10 hours for Bluetooth commands. Control gestures were still in the
Note9, but first appear in a tablet. Using gestures, you can, without touching
the tablet, flip through photos in the gallery, rewind music or videos, stop
playback, take photos, switch between cameras, and so on. Samsung has created an
SDK allows third-party developers to use gestures in their apps.
Interestingly, when using the S Pen, you see hints if you try to use gesture
controls in the application.
In the S Pen settings, you can reassign gestures, choose
your actions, while standard applications and the Chrome browser are supported,
but this is quite enough. In our opinion, the remote control is interesting during
presentations, as you can flip through slides. Plus, it is interesting to take
photos when you have installed a tablet somehow and do not want to take them
from the screen. You can find many scenarios, but for now, this is an additional
feature that is not as important as everything else.
Let us remind you that, unlike conventional devices, all
Samsung models that support the S Pen have an additional touch layer. The pen
supports 4096 degrees of depression, different writing tilt. Let's take a look
at what you can do with the S Pen in the Tab S6.
As soon as you take the S Pen in your hand when the screen
is locked, it becomes possible to create a quick note, on a black background
you can write or draw something, and immediately save this information in
Samsung Notes.
In the settings, you can specify that the device will tell
you when you move away from the S Pen, which is good if you have forgotten the
pen somewhere and leave. Most importantly, you can unlock your tablet by
pressing a button on the S Pen if you want to. If you are not afraid for
safety, then set up the tablet so it is very convenient.
The context menu that may appear when using the S Pen, you
customize for yourself as you like, choose programs and features that interest
you. The S Pen's charge level is displayed at the top.
You won't be able to press your finger or another object on
the context menu icon, the device responds only to the S Pen, and it can be any
pen, including from another smartphone. Multiple S Pens can be connected to the
device, this also happened for the first time. In fact, we can assume that
Samsung is counting on third-party pens. So far, they are produced only to
order, and it is impossible to find them on free sale.
Let's start with the Quick Note mode, where you can draw or
write something. But the main thing is that the window can be made transparent,
it is placed on top of other windows. Samsung did not call this operating mode
in any way, but we called it tracing paper. Remember the transparent sheets of
paper onto which we transferred drawings as children? Something similar can be
done here. Or you can make notes, and in the background, you will have a photo
or video, and the latter will be played. That is, you will not only work, but
you can immediately take notes.
Samsung Notes has several new modes, besides the fact that
you can draw, write and type texts, now it is possible to recognize what you
have written. it has been noticed so far that the recognition of texts in two
languages works poorly, one, the main language, is determined. But it was
about the same with Google with voice recognition, it is a matter of time and
maturation of algorithms, the latter, by the way, based on AI, so fashionable
in recent years.
You can put your hand on the screen and write as you like,
this is clearly seen in our video.
You can keep your notes as they are for convenience. Or you
can recognize text, then a search by notes appears. For lawyers, students, and
everyone who has not yet lost the habit of writing and loves it.
Recognized text can be saved in different formats, including
PDF or MS Word, and immediately sent anywhere. And you shouldn't underestimate
this opportunity, it is unique and someone will have to come to court.
Select and Save mode allows you to select any piece on the
screen (rectangle, lasso, free-form - and it's very easy with a pen!), Then you
can save it as a graphic file or GIF-animation. But what we like and help in
our work is the ability to recognize text in a photo or a screenshot, select
the desired piece, and you have a text in any language in front of you. Cool? Not
that word. While you are working with such clippings, you can place them on the
screen, they will be in front of your eyes. For those who create collages, this
is a unique tool.
Live messages are an old, but no less interesting
opportunity to create an animated video in which you draw or write something,
and then send an mr4 file to a person. The animation is pretty,
especially if you can draw.
AR-sketching is the ability to attach some drawings to a
person's face (any camera, even frontal, even the main one). Interesting? For
young people, yes, everyone else will just miss this opportunity.
hover the S Pen over a word, and with the help of Google's
translation service, a translation appears immediately, the number of languages
is huge, you can listen to how the word sounds.
Now about the section that many people love, this is PENUP.
A kind of social service for those who love to draw and do it on their Note
devices. When you look at what pictures people create, you are amazed at their
skills, envy with white envy. Every two weeks contests are held in which you
need to draw a certain plot.
There is also an opportunity to see how certain pictures are
drawn, and, accordingly, to learn how to do it. For those who are learning to
draw, they simply did not come up with anything similar, this is an
acquaintance with the technique.
Finally, there are coloring pages. A popular topic in order
to calm the nerves, and here it is very well organized. You can not only color
these pictures but see how others have done it. And sometimes it allows you to
look differently at the very process of creativity, there are extraordinary
works.
These are not all the pre-installed features for the S Pen,
but we will consider them as the main ones. Of the additional, but no less
important things, we note the support for the S Pen in most professional Adobe
programs, as well as AutoDesk. In a word, you can use this pen anywhere and in
any way, your possibilities are not limited by anything, today it is the best
solution that is, the only question is how and for what you will use it.
It doesn't matter if you have an HDMI cable or a keyboard
case, you can still directly connect a wireless keyboard, mouse to the tablet, and turn on DeX mode. In fact, this is the use of a tablet with a DeX
interface, which is as much like a computer as possible and allows you to work
comfortably in different windows, a kind of work mode. Our phones are used in
my DeX station, and this is very good since they provide ample opportunities,
in particular, we connect different peripherals this way. And this tablet is no
exception, you can get exactly the same features in it. It's a workhorse, but
only for those who need it.
The keyboard is not bad, we like the key travel, it is
comfortable to work on.
Having said that, Apple iPad Pro comes with a 12.9 IPS LCD
display which Apple calls Retina Display. The screen occupies 85.4% of the
front of the device. The iPad Pro 2020 has a resolution (2732x2048) with 264
PPI. It supports True Tone and ProMotion technologies. The screen supports
120Hz refresh rate.
The screen and glass are laminated, there is no gap in
between. This increases the visual pleasure even more and creates the feeling
of using it with a slightly more natural paper when using Apple Pencil.
The features of the iPad Pro's screen include a 120 Hz
refresh rate. The effect of this is mostly used with Apple Pencil, providing a
realistic and fast writing or drawing experience. However, you can feel fluency
in scrolling and animations in the user interface. The screen brightness is
also around 600 nits and when compared to a laptop, it seems well above the
standards. In this way, it offers the opportunity to work comfortably in the
outdoor environment. On the other hand, another contribution of this high
brightness is on the side of high dynamic range support. You can benefit from
Dolby Vision support for TV series or movies you watch on Netflix or movies
that you download or rent from the iTunes Store.
Speaking of movies and TV shows, this tablet is also a good
content consumption tool, although the productivity-oriented features of the
iPad Pro is more prominent. Thanks to its body and ergonomic design, which is
not heavy compared to a tablet, it is not very troublesome to hold the tablet
in hand and watch something. It is not very difficult to hold and watch the
short series of about 20 minutes on the iPad Pro. On the sound side, the quad speaker
system provides a very good, high intensity and quality sound output and does
not require another speaker. According to your grip of the tablet, the speakers
on the bottom focus on bass, while those on the top focus on the treble output.
Apple stopped using the 3.5mm headphone jack on iPad Pro two
years ago and there's no going back. If you find headphones connected on the
USB-C port, you can use them with the iPad Pro. Apart from that, you can get it
from 3.5mm to USB-C adapters. Of course, the best is the wireless solution, and
at this point, Apple's AirPods and AirPods Pro headphones stand out with their
practicality. If you plan to watch, listen or do video and music production
with this tablet, AirPods will be a convenient solution.
Apple iPad Pro comes with an awesome feature, which makes
the device look like a good laptop, which is a trackpad. Having a trackpad can
make your work on iPad Pro move in light speed. Trackpad allows you to
highlight any text you like and select or drag it to anywhere. Trackpad also
gives you the chance to access all the iPad applications just by moving the
cursor to the bottom of the screen. Moving to the upper corner you will find
the reachable control panel. It is important to say that you can use the
trackpad to go home using the three-finger movement. Trackpad opens the door on
multi-features which can be a great advantage while using the iPad Pro.
In terms of Apple iPad Pro Pencil. The iPad Pro Pencil is
the same second-generation pencil that came with iPad Pro 2018. It is totally
smooth and has a mat finish. It also thin and has one flat side making it more
comfortable to handle the Apple iPad Pro Pencil is connected via Bluetooth
which means it has a battery inside.
Charging the pencil is too easy. All you have to do is connecting the
Apple Pencil magnetically to the tablet and it will be charged wirelessly.
The Apple Pencil has many wonderful advantages which make
your use for the Apple iPad Pro quite easy. For example, you can take notes in
your lectures using the Apple Pencil in support of some writing apps which can
make taking notes a piece of a cake. The large and high-resolution screen makes
you feel as if you are writing on actual paper. And even if you miss a point or
you need to edit some information you can do in no time, because the Apple
Pencil has enabled you to turn the pencil to a real useful eraser to edit
anything you like by tapping on the pencil double time. This incredible feature
comes in handy for those who use the iPad Pro for taking notes. So if you are
one them you can kiss sticky problems of notes taking goodbye.
Magic Keyboard, a new keyboard cover developed for iPad Pro,
was introduced at the same time as this new generation tablet. Maybe it got
more attention and sound than the tablet. We see that Apple makes different
experiments on the keyboard accessory side with each new iPad Pro generation.
Every new accessory has its payoffs and downsides. We can easily say that Magic
Keyboard is the most advanced among the ones released so far.
First of all, let's talk about the keyboard mechanism that
gives the name of the keyboard case. Apple has commonly called the keyboards
Magic Keyboards for iMac keyboards, which contain the keyboard mechanism that
it introduced in its notebook computers with the 16-inch MacBook Pro it
released at the end of last year. The company aims to offer iPad Pro users the
writing experience on their laptops with an accessory with this mechanism.
Magic Keyboard
keyboard MacBook Airwe tried it on a laptop for the first time and found it
quite good. It offers comfortable writing with its sufficient height from the
base and well-adjusted depth. We can make the same comment for the keys of the
iPad Pro's Magic Keyboard keyboard. But speaking for the 11-inch model, space is
a bit narrower here. This situation limits the size of the keys. However, Apple
has tried to keep the size of the frequently used keys almost the same as the
keys on the MacBook Air's keyboard.
Due to the narrower space of the Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch
iPad Pro version, the trackpad and the wrist rest areas on both sides of it are
narrow. Your wrists will stay out while writing, especially due to the narrow
wrist support areas. Your palms can even come to the edge of the keyboard. This
situation can cause some discomfort when writing for a long time. The trackpad
has enough room for an 11-inch accessory. Like a laptop, this trackpad can be
used comfortably. The shape of the pointer in iPadOS is different than what we
see on a computer. A small transparent circle is preferred, indicating that it
is equivalent to a little touch. The pointer adapts well to the various touch
elements in the UI, the intuition is high.
When using the iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard, it gives
the impression that it is floating in the air. Magic Keyboard provides more
flexibility compared to the design of the Smart Keyboard accessory that allows
it to be used at only two angles. However, we have to say that the angle of
movement of the screen is still limited and that more movement area should be
provided. The range of motion available is sufficient, especially when using at
the table. However, when you really want to use the iPad Pro on your knees,
maybe increasing the angle of the tablet with the keyboard a little more would
provide a better view of the screen. By the way, we see that our fingertips
occasionally touch the tablet while using the keys on the top row or just below
it while writing.
One of the features that make this keyboard remarkable is
that it has backlit keys. While in a dark or dimly lit environment, you can
continue typing thanks to the backlight of the keyboard. However, you cannot
illuminate the brightness of the keyboard keys with a shortcut on the keyboard.
You have to navigate the iPad Pro's settings menu to enter the keyboard
settings and manually adjust the brightness from here. It goes without saying
that keeping the backlight turned on negatively affects the battery life of the
iPad Pro.
The hinge part of the Magic Keyboard accessory has a special
design. There is a thin and long cylinder in the center and on the left edge of
it we see the USB-C port. Thanks to this port, it is possible to charge both
iPad Pro. This way, you can keep the tablet's own USB-C port idle, and continue
charging the iPad Pro while connecting accessories such as a USB drive or
headphones, or your iPhone.
The cylinder in the center line of the hinge structure is
quite heavy. For this reason, the center of gravity shifts towards the back and
when you want to use the screen at the widest angle, the keyboard base lifts up
from the front, albeit slightly. It is especially useful to be careful when
using it on a laptop.
iPad Pro attaches tightly to Magic Keyboard with magnetic
force. The tablet is difficult to accidentally dislodge. It is very easy to
take it out and put it back on. If you want to watch something, play games, or
take photos or videos with the camera on the iPad Pro, you can easily detach
the tablet from the keyboard case. In fact, Magic Keyboard offers a similar use
to dock stations that allow laptops to be used like a desktop computer, with
features such as easy insertion and removal of the iPad Pro and charging with
the USB-C port. You can stand on the table with the Magic Keyboard open, and
you can always connect to the socket from the USB-C port. You can remove the
tablet whenever you need it, then you can put it on the Magic Keyboard to keep
it charged while keeping it charged. By the way, there is no data flow through
the USB-C port. Bad news for those who think they can connect two devices to
the iPad Pro at the same time.
It is possible to fold back the Smart Keyboard Folio
accessory without removing it from the iPad Pro and continue using the tablet
with its case. However, the same is not true for Magic Keyboard. The Magic
Keyboard does not allow you to use it like a tablet, the hinge does not have a
360-degree rotation angle, you cannot fold the keyboard back. As a case,
however, it is too good to carry the tablet protected in a bag. It protects the
iPad Pro well, as the front and back is tough and thick enough. You can keep
Apple Pencil connected and charged, as the edges remain open.
Operating System and Process.
Both tablets offer pretty good processors for daily
use. Samsung Galaxy S6 powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. It comes with 8
cores and 7nm Plus build. Whereas Apple iPad Pro powered by the Apple A12Z
Bionic. It comes with octa-core and 8nm build. It is the best Apple CPU until
now. The CPU is quite similar to the one that existed in the last generation, Apple
iPad Pro 2018, A12X Bionic. Both CPUs are the same, but the new one comes with
a little better performance. The Graphics GPU comes with 1 more core
Regarding the GPU, The GPU is the Adreno 640. In
Geekbench 5 the CPU scored 711 points for single-core and 2455 points for
multicores.
On Fortnite, you can take advantage of the High
graphics mode at 60 FPS or the Epic mode at 30 FPS as desired. The 60 FPS mode
is an absolute treat of fluidity for a game of this caliber on a tablet and is
perfectly stable even in complicated conditions.
On PUBG
Mobile, which launches in its maximum configuration currently available without
the slightest problem. HDR graphics, ultra frame rate, anti-aliasing enabled
and without any auto graphic adjustment, the title turns wonderfully. If the 60
FPS are not necessarily constantly reached, PUBG Mobile maintains a perfectly
playable frequency.
Over the
duration of our tests, the Samsung Galaxy tab s6 did not overheat. What is
more, this heater is quickly dissipated and does not interfere with use. It's
all good.
As for the Apple iPad Pro GPU, The GPU is the Apple
GPU (8-core graphics). In Geekbench 5 the CPU scored 1114 points for single-core and 4654 points for multicores.
As for PUBG gaming experience, PUBG doesn’t yet support 120FPS, and
unfortunately, you can’t go any higher than balanced on the graphics settings
while playing at Extreme frame rate, which is ridiculous since we know it can
handle better graphics at 60FPS. As far as the gameplay, there was a massive
advantage in terms of the speaker quality because it makes it much easier to
track footsteps of enemies around you
Moving on for Fore Night, this is basically every
mobile Fortnite player's dream tablet. As you can see in the settings, we now
have a 120FPS frame rate option because this iPad Pro has a 120hz display.
Unfortunately, you can only take the graphics up to Medium, but we are bound it
could handle higher frame rates if they allowed for it. Gameplay on this iPad
was great because it stuck to 120FPS almost all the time, and there was a night
and day difference between the Pro and the other iPads in terms of gameplay
smoothness. The whole experience, in general, is better since you have the much
better speakers on both sides for listening to footsteps, and the display can
actually get fairly bright which would
be nice if you’re playing in a bright environment.
According to the operating system, the S6 runs also
on Android 9.0( Pie) with One UI 2.0 from Samsung. It is light and easy to use.
The UI supports dark mode, Knox, Kids Home which comes with its own UI. You can
control the screen on time.
On the contrast, the 2020 model iPad Pro started to be
released with iPadOS 13.4 and it works with the most current version iPadOS
13.5.1 at the time of publishing this review. With the Apple iPadOS 13.4
update, support for the trackpad and mouse, which concerns the iPad Pro and
other iPads, came. Thanks to this, it was possible to use Apple's accessories
such as Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad with tablets. Of course, it is possible
to connect and use other mouse and trackpad accessories via Bluetooth as well.
For the first time, we saw that with the iPadOS 13, Apple
began to separate the operating system offered on iPhones and iPads. In fact,
there were iPad-specific features within iOS, but now Apple is drawing a line
on the marketing side of the business. With iPadOS 13, we have seen that the
potential of iPad Pro on the hardware side is being used better. The Files
application, which was developed and added USB disk drive support, is the first
features that come to mind that Safari opens the desktop view of the websites
by default. The mouse and trackpad support that came with iOS 13 .4 were also
important steps in this area.
Now, with the iPadOS 14 coming in the fall, new steps will
be taken towards Apple's goal of making the iPad Pro its laptop counterpart.
For example, mouse and keyboard support in games can make the iPad Pro more
preferred for games such as PUBG Mobile and Fortnite. Rearranging the
appearance of Siri on the screen, renewed notification displays for FaceTime or
Skype calls can also be described as steps to be taken towards the use of a
laptop. On the other hand, although we do not expect it to be very useful in
Turkish in the first place, converting texts written with Apple Pencil to plain
text and similar functions will make the iPad Pro a more useful productivity
tool. IPadOS 14 preliminary review published after WWDC 2020. We used the 2018
model iPad Pro in the video. We will use iPad Pro 2020 while preparing the
iPadOS 14 review video or article, which we plan to publish when iPadOS 14 is
released in the fall. Let's give the information of this already.
By the way, let's not go without mentioning the Sidecar
feature. With this handy feature that comes with iPadOS 13, if you have a
MacBook Pro or Air that supports it, you can turn your device into a second
monitor. Working with a second monitor is very important for productive people.
iPad Pro will save you an additional monitor cost in this respect. It works
very fast with wired or wireless connection. It also allows you to draw or
input data in various applications using Apple Pencil.
Storage, Price, and available colors.

Security and Ports.
For security, Samsung Tab S6 comes with a built-in
fingerprint sensor. The performance is perfect. It also unlocks using 3D face
recognition. It also supports the classical unlocking methods such as pattern
and passcode. On the other side, Apple iPad Pro comes with a built-in
fingerprint sensor. The performance is perfect. As most Apple flagships the
iPad supports 3D face for unlocking. This method has many enhancements making
it super-fast. It is the same one that iPhone 11 Pro Max has. It also supports
the same classical unlocking methods such as pattern and passcode.
As of ports, the device supports Bluetooth 5 and
NFC. It supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling. The device comes with USB-C port,
which helps in quick charing. Unfortunately, it doesn't support a 3.5mm
headphone jack. Whereas the iPad Pro supports Bluetooth 5 and GPS. It also
supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling, but it depends on your carrier. It comes with
USB-C port but disappointedly it has no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery and charging.
Samsung
Galaxy Tab s6 holds a great battery capacity of 7040mAh for better performance.
While iPad Pro 2020 holds a great battery capacity of 9720mAh. And both tablets
offer fast charging.
In our opinion, battery life is the strong point of the
gadget. If you turn on the video at maximum brightness and volume, you can get
at least 15 hours of screen. It is clear that this is video playback, but how
much the tablet can work in different tasks, how much it pulls the load. Take a
look at the screenshot of the running times below.
Ten hours of screen work, of which we watched video for
almost six hours (Wi-Fi was on all the time), and four hours were spent on
toys, Chrome and other traditional tasks (the screen brightness is enough for
me by 40-50%, this is very comfortable, the maximum brightness is not needed).
Please note that it took me about 5 more hours to play music, we listened to it
on connected wireless headphones, when we worked, the screen was turned off. It
is amazing how economically the tablet uses energy when connected wirelessly,
the declared operating time in this mode is up to 105 hours! Think about this
figure, it's almost five days of non-stop work.
But there is one small nuisance with the battery that is
worth knowing about. If you use the S Pen and it bounces off the magnetic
mount, the tablet starts looking for it. The search continues indefinitely, and
it takes a lot of energy. We were interested to see how many. Therefore, we set
the movie to play in MX Player and just went for a walk, and took the S Pen
with us. And here's the result.
It turns out a sad picture, if the S Pen is not turned off
in the menu, but it flew off, then the power consumption will be so merciless,
the autonomy has almost halved. If you don't use the S Pen, turn it off in the
menu, the autonomy will increase dramatically. Those who use it should choose a
case with a holder, this is another reason in favor of this accessory.
In general, we like the autonomy of the tablet, it is
durable and provides up to nine hours of games (Clash of Clans as an example),
while a similar iPad Pro died for us about 5 hours of work in this game. On
vacation, children played non-stop during the day, so it was not difficult to
measure the time. There are many power saving modes in the settings, so you can
squeeze more out of the tablet.
In total, at the moment this is the most hardy tablet in
terms of operating time, and at the same time you do not lose in the least in
the brightness of the picture, its quality. We also note that we often hear
complaints about the operating time, but after a detailed investigation it
turns out that there is always a program / service that is eating up the
battery, and the user does not find this zhor in time. If your device does not
work well for you, then look for a problem in the software. The Tab S6's
battery life is a strong point, just like the Tab S5e. In the bedside device
mode, the tablet lives for a week, and charging is not difficult, it recharges
quickly and you can both play and just watch movies.
On the flip side, According to Apple, this model allows up
to 10 hours of internet surfing or watching videos over Wi-Fi. It also offers
the opportunity to surf the internet for up to 9 hours over the cellular data
network. If you use the screen brightness without increasing it to the maximum
level, you will be able to get quite close to the values stated by Apple. Our
observations made, while the screen brightness is at maximum, watching videos
over the internet for 75 minutes causes a battery consumption of 30 percent. A
FaceTime call for about 10 minutes consumes 5 percent battery. As a result,
keeping the screen brightness at the highest level has significant effects on
battery consumption. If you are at home or at work and do not have the
opportunity to charge, if you spend most of the day outside,
Just like the previous generation iPad Pro, the 2020 model
iPad Pro also allows you to charge other devices via USB-C. If you own an
iPhone, you can charge your iPhone with the USB-C to Lightning cable. This
feature is useful, it provides the opportunity to use the iPad Pro as a power
bank when necessary. In addition, with the 18W charging adapter included in the
box, it takes 3 hours for the iPad Pro's battery to reach a full level from 0
to full.
Camera.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e has a dual rear camera: 13MP
with f\2.0 (wide). it supports the HDR and autofocus for sharper shots and 5MP
with f\2.2 ( ultra-wide). You can use the camera to record a 4K video with
30fps. The Tab has an 8MP front-facing camera which also can be used to record a
video with 1080@30fps.
In contrast, iPad
Pro 2020 has a triple rear camera: 12MP with f\1.8. It supports the HDR and
autofocus for sharper shots. And 10MP ultra-wide with f\2.4. It also comes with the LIDER sensor. The rear
cameras, though, don't support the Portrait mode despite the LIDER sensor. The
LIDER sensor helps with light and space and it works with AR. The iPad can do
lots of great things with it. It detects spaces and works with some apps to
show furniture at home using AR in high quality. It recognizes measurements. If
you care about this LIDER sensor, then you'll enjoy using it. The cameras shoot
4K videos and it works really well, especially if there's lots of light. The
Tab has a 7MP front-facing camera with f\2.2. It supports the HDR and Face
Detection and also it can be used to record a video with 1080@60fps.
Conclusion.
For the first time,
Samsung has seriously tried not only to promote the DeX mode, which in some
ways makes the tablet similar to a computer, but to add a keyboard cover that
brings the Tab S6 closer to mobile computers.
Without any discounts, we can say that the Tab S6 is the
flagship not only for the Samsung line, but for the market as a whole. Today
iPad is more popular, but it is in the Tab line that Apple developers have been
copying solutions for many years, borrowing them from year to year, since they
cannot come up with something of their own. They live according to the precepts
of Steve Jobs, who bluntly said: “We were never ashamed to steal great ideas”.
And the ideas behind the Tab S6 are just that.
Conversely, when you compare the 2020 iPad Pros with their predecessors
released in 2018, you may think that the differences are not much. You are not
wrong in this regard either. However, when we look in more detail, we see that
in the previous generation iPad Pro, the gaps that users can see as
deficiencies have been closed. For example, 128 GB of storage space at the
entry level is a significant plus. LiDAR sensor can also be considered as an
investment towards the future. We will see more of the augmented reality
applications in the future and your tablet will be ready for this now.
Improving microphone quality is also a good improvement for those who like to
take voice memos or consider using the iPad Pro in their interviews. Since the
steps taken on the processor side are small, the situation does not change much
on the performance side, but 6 GB of RAM is a significant gain. Regardless, the
iPad Pro continues to deliver good performance for a tablet, and even challenges
many laptops.

iPad Pro alone becomes a powerful content consumption
device. You can also take many steps on the productivity side by using your
fingers and the on-screen keyboard. However, you also need to invest in
accessories to turn this tablet into a truly production device or to become a
replacement for the laptop, as Apple put it. This increases the total cost of
the product. However, if your budget is sufficient, we recommend you to get
both Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. This would add around 3500USD on top of
the cost of the tablet itself, but in return it would increase the tablet's
experience several times. What do you think? Can these tablets replace a
laptop? Do you find the iPad Pro 2020 and the Samsung S6 tablets useful? Share
your experience with us.
