Huawei P40 Lite E: Quick Review

The P40 Lite E, which can be described as the freshest member of the Huawei P40 series stands out from the other members of the series in terms of design and technical features. Located closer to the entry level, the Huawei P40 Lite E's target audience includes users who do not expect too much from their phone.

Huawei is one of the most active and fast-growing manufacturers of the smartphone market in recent years. The Chinese company, which is among the three largest manufacturers in the market, continues to add new devices to its portfolio. Announcing the flagship P40 series last spring, Huawei continues to expand this series. The P40 Lite E, one of the parts of these expansion works, stands in a slightly different place from the other members of the series. In this article, we will give you a quick review regarding the P40 Lite E.

 Design & Display.

It is necessary to say that the P40 Lite E is not a phone that will surprise those who see it due to its design. The P40 Lite E, which is quite similar to the other mid-segment phones that Huawei has released in recent years, does not offer anything extraordinary at first sight. The plastic case phone with curved corners fits very comfortably in the hand.

The P40 Lite E has a 6.39-inch screen, the details of which will be discussed later. This screen takes up 82.4 percent of the front panel of the phone. In the upper left corner of the screen is a round hole where the front camera is placed. The lower bezel of this screen, whose upper and side bezels are quite thin, is a little thicker. The speakerphone of the device is also hidden in the upper frame.

At the top of the left edge of the phone is the slot where the dual nano-SIM cards and micro SD card tray are placed. On the right side, there are the power button and volume control keys. The second microphone at the upper edge welcomes the users; 3.5 mm respectively from left to right on the lower edge. It has a headphone jack, microphone, micro USB jack, and speaker grille.

p40 lite review is a bit disappointing to choose micro USB in an environment where USB-C input is increasingly common. At this point, it is worth noting that the sound performance of the speaker is quite good compared to the segment in which the P40 Lite E is located.

On the glossy back panel of the Huawei P40 Lite E, the first thing that strikes the eye is the round fingerprint scanner placed in the upper middle. In the upper left corner of the rear panel, there is a triple camera system lined up vertically. The LED flash is also placed just below the camera. The Huawei logo can also be defined as a complementary element on the back panel.

The design language of the P40 Lite E, as mentioned above, is very similar to Huawei's other mid-segment phones. It can be said that the P40 Lite E has a stylish but now customary appearance.

As far as display is concerned, Huawei P40 Lite E has a 6.39-inch screen as we mentioned earlier. The aspect ratio of this screen where the IPS LCD panel is preferred is 19.5: 9. The pixel density of the 1560 x 720-pixel resolution screen is 269 PPI.

There is a round hole in the upper left corner of the 6.39-inch screen where the front camera is placed. If they wish, users can darken the area around this hole and hide the hole via the Display tab in the Settings menu. However, even if this option is not preferred, it should be said that the camera hole does not affect the experience of using very negatively.

The screen brightness of the Huawei P40 Lite E can be adjusted automatically. In addition, the blue light filter, which is now standard on every phone is also offered under the name Eye Comfort in the P 40 Lite E. Users can activate this filter manually or on a calendar and determine the color temperature to be applied when the filter is active.

The Huawei P40 Lite E's screen performs reasonably in terms of brightness and viewing angles. The screen does not have much trouble with color rendering either. Although there is some blurring in the text due to the low resolution, it is necessary to say that this is not unusual for the category the P40 Lite E is in.

 Operating System and Process.

The phone offers extremely fast and powerful processors.  Huawei P40 Lite E offers a good processor for daily use. The Huawei P40 Lite E is powered by Huawei's own Kirin 710F  processor. The Kirin 710F and 4GB RAM duo delivers enough performance to meet the daily work of the average user. There is no problem when browsing social media applications, surfing the internet, using e-mail applications, and listening to music with a smartphone. Writing emails or using Instagram with Spotify open in the background is not a problem.

The Kirin 710F offers users “base” performance that will be sufficient for them. While the processor can run modern games, it doesn't use the games' highest settings when doing so. Huawei supports this processor with GPU Turbo 3.0 technology developed to increase visual performance in games. This increases the game performance of the phone a little higher. Although the Huawei P40 Lite E does not let users down during the game, it cannot turn the games into a visual feast.

Regarding the GPU, Huawei P40 Lite E has the Mali-G51 MP4.

In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 321 for single-core and 1320 for multicores.

According to the operating system, the Huawei P40 Lite E runs on Android 9 operating system, and EMUI 9.1.1 user interface. It can be said that it is a bit annoying that both Android 9 and EMUI 9.1.1 are older versions.

As mentioned above, the Huawei P40 Lite E does not have Google's mobile services. It is also not possible to access the Play Store from the phone, which does not include Google applications found in almost every Android phone. To download apps to the P40 Lite E, you need to use Huawei's app store App Gallery, solutions such as More Apps or APK Pure. It can be said that the application download part is the most different point from the usual Android experience.

While the absence of Google's mobile services may seem a bit strange at first glance, those familiar with Huawei's phones with EMUI user interface won't be too hard to get used to the P40 Lite E. It is possible to experience the general user experience of the company's smartphones in the P40 Lite E.

It has to be said that the catalog of Huawei's app store App gallery is gradually expanding. Applications of mobile operators in Turkey in the store, bank applications, shopping applications, and popular games available. Most of the applications that are not available here can be easily downloaded from solutions such as More Apps or APKPure.

It is worth noting that two frequently used applications such as Instagram and WhatsApp can be easily downloaded via these sideways. It is even possible to use more than one WhatsApp account on the device thanks to the twin application feature on the phone. It is worth noting that this support also includes Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

The Tools folder we see on Huawei's phones with EMUI user interface is also available in the P40 Lite E. This folder contains tools such as Calculator, Recorder, FM Radio. One of the parts of this folder, the Phone Clone application speeds up the transition of users from a different phone to the P40 Lite E.

Apart from the lack of Google services, there is no difference in the user experience of the P40 Lite E that will surprise people who are strangers to Huawei's new era. Huawei applications such as Health, Email, Browser and Gallery offer the usual experience.

The Optimizer application, one of the indispensable parts of Huawei's phones are also available in the P40 Lite E. This app makes it easy to maximize the phone's performance. Thanks to the Optimizer, which can also be defined as a control center, applications running in the background can be closed with a single touch, details on battery status can be checked quickly, virus scanning and data usage control can be easily performed.

 Security and Ports.

On the security side, in the Huawei P40 Lite E, users can unlock the phone using a fingerprint scanner or face recognition method. The fingerprint scanner located in the upper middle of the back panel of the smartphone can be easily accessed with the index fingers of both hands. The browser, which works quite fast, unlocks the screen in seconds after detecting the fingerprint. It can be said that the presence of a fingerprint scanner is very important and functional nowadays when we are walking around with a mask.

It is not possible to say the same about the functioning of the face recognition feature. The face recognition feature of the P40 Lite E does not work if you have sunglasses that are not too dark, even if the environment is bright. It is not possible to benefit from this feature in dark environments. This has not been much of a problem with Huawei's different devices in the same segment. The phone also supports classical unlocking methods such as pattern and passcode.

As for ports, the device supports Bluetooth 5 and NFC. It supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling. It also has support for a 3.5mm headphone jack like the Realme 6 Pro.

 Battery and charging.

Huawei P40 Lite E provides a powerful Li-Po 4000mAh battery.  And the phone offers fast charging.

It can be said that the battery capacity in question has become a standard for phones in this class. The combination of a low-resolution display and a power-saving processor provides the P40 Lite E with considerable battery life.

The battery of Huawei P40 Lite E does not need charging for about 1.5 days even in an active usage scenario. In fact, when the density is reduced a little, the total usage time reaches two days.

the Huawei P40 Lite E does not have Google's mobile services. We'll talk about the visible implications of this on the user experience in a moment. These services are sometimes active, and sometimes in the background, they can drain the battery of Android phones very quickly. It can be said that the absence of these services in the P40 Lite E also contributes to the increase of battery life.

The fast charging feature is not available on Huawei P40 Lite E. The 10W charger that comes out of the box of the smartphone fills the phone's battery in just over 2 hours via the micro USB port. It can be said that this is a slightly high period in the framework of today's standards.

Huawei P40 Lite E: Quick Review

Huawei P40 Lite E has a- Triple-camera on the rear as clarified: 48MP ( wide with f\1.8), 12Mp ( ultrawide with f\1.9), 2MP( for depth). Huawei P40 Lite E has a single front-facing camera, 8MP ( wide ). The cameras come with LED flash, AI support, and HDR. HDR technology will help you when there's sunlight behind you. HDR will edit the photo and balance the brightness.

It can be easily said that the 48-megapixel main camera does a good job, especially in environments with sufficient lighting conditions. Even when the environment is dim, the camera performs well. The camera application tries to capture the most successful frame from every scenario with the support of artificial intelligence.

However, in parallel with the decrease in the light in the environment, a certain degree of deterioration begins in the photographs. The noise effect can be noticed very barely in photos in dark environments. It is worth noting at this point that no one expects flagship-level low-light performance from the P40 Lite E.

Huawei P40 Lite E ReviewThe performance of the ultra-wide-angle camera can simply be described as "standard". If the lighting conditions are good, the wide-angle camera can capture successful frames with quality and color reproduction. Small distortions can be noticed when looking into details. Still, it can be said that the ultra-wide-angle camera generally delivers what is expected of it.

The 2-megapixel depth sensor, as expected, only adds depth to the photos. Successful blurring of the background in portrait mode photos on the smartphone shows that this camera does its job.

In front of the Huawei P40 Lite E is an 8-megapixel camera. This camera does a good job compared to its class. The camera with HDR support also offers beautifying effects. 1080p video can be recorded with the front camera.

1080p video can be recorded with the main camera of the Huawei P40 Lite E.

The P40 Lite E has the standard camera application of EMUI 9.1. The application, which includes various modes and effects, also includes Pro and night modes. The P40 Lite E is capable of 5x digital zoom on photos.

Huawei P40 Lite E: Quick Review

The target audience of the Huawei P40 Lite E can be said to be "average" users who don't expect too much from a smartphone, looking for an affordable device. Design is among the first things this user group looks at. While the design of the P40 Lite E is ordinary, this doesn't change the fact that the phone looks good. It can be said that this is an advantage for the P40 Lite E.

The cameras of the phone, whose screen quality is at an average level, perform really well when the appropriate conditions are provided. The addition of long battery life to the successful camera performance strengthens the message that the P40 Lite E gives to the average user. The fact that it can offer dual SIM and microSD card support is written on the plus of the P40 Lite E.

One of the factors that will make us think twice about the Huawei P40 Lite E is the lack of Google's mobile services. As we mentioned above, this does not cause much of a problem for the overall experience. Still, for those who do not want to give up the comfort of the order they are used to, a phone with Google's mobile services may be preferable. What do you think? Have you used the smartphone?
