Samsung Galaxy A71 and Realme 7  Pro which one is the king?

Samsung started the 2020 model Galaxy A series with Galaxy A51 and A71 models. These two phones appeal to those who want a big-screen experience. However, the Galaxy A71 enters the field of higher segment Samsung phones with its 6.7-inch screen and is an affordable option for those who want a visual experience similar to theirs. Last year, the Galaxy A70 model among the models who also had a lot of interest in it.

On the flip side, Realme is among the most active players in the smartphone market lately. The Chinese manufacturer makes a name for itself with phones released in the entry segment and middle segment. The company, which renews its middle segment series every six months, continues this line with Realme 7 and 7 Pro models. In this article, we will make a compersion between the A71 and Realme 7  Pro to see who the king is.

Samsung Galaxy A71 and Realme 7 Pro which one is the king?

 Design & Display.

Samsung Galaxy A71 and Realme 7 Pro are pretty smartphones. The Galaxy A71 comes in almost the same size as last year's A70, but it has smaller values, albeit slightly. It is also slightly lighter. Despite its large screen, it is possible to hold the phone with one hand and perform many tasks easily thanks to its relatively thin screen bezel. The slim profile and the curvature of the back, albeit slightly, also contribute to the ergonomics of the phone.

Samsung also includes a combination of glass and plastic design in this phone. On the front, there is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display glass. The phone comes out of the box with a protective film attached to its screen, but since the test product that came to us was without the box, this protective film was also missing. As a matter of fact, the glass is very solid in this state, there is no visible scratch or wear in our 3-week use.

The sides and back of the A71 are covered with plastic. The design that Samsung calls "prism" on the back is also used here. Although the Galaxy A71 in our hands is black, when we hold it to the light, we see that the light is refracted on the back of it as it passes through a prism. In addition, the striped pattern extending from top to bottom on the back and a separate pattern resembling a diamond shape in different tones draw attention. Samsung used this back design on the Galaxy A series phones it released in the second half of last year. It continues this on the Galaxy A71.

On the lower edge of the Galaxy A71, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, microphone, and speaker. The handset speaker stands out as a thin line at the top of the screen. On the upper edge is the second microphone. On the right side, we see the volume and power keys. These keys are soft and can be used easily even with one hand. On the left side is the nano-SIM card and microSD card tray. The A71 is a dual-line phone and moreover, it has two separate SIM card slots. So you don't have to compromise the microSD card slot for the second line.

On the back, in the upper left corner, we see the camera module that contains four cameras and an LED flash. This camera module protrudes outward, albeit slightly. The camera module does not look very stylish. However, compared to the camera module on the back of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite , which contains three cameras, we can say that it looks nicer.

Contrastingly, It is possible to say that the Realme 7 Pro draws a stylish phone image that does not look unusual at first glance. The case of the reasonably sized phone is thin and light. One of the most striking points is that the phone fits well in the hand. Realme 7 Pro pulls 182 grams on the scale.

The smartphone has a 6.4-inch screen covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ glass, the details of which will be discussed later. It also hosts an in-screen fingerprint scanner. There is a round hole in the upper left corner of this screen where the front camera is placed.

It is also seen that the bottom bezel of the screen is slightly thicker compared to the right, left, and top bezels. It is worth noting that the handset speaker of the phone is also camouflaged on the upper edge.

At the top of the Realme 7, Pro is the second microphone of the phone. On the left side, there are volume control keys, nano-SIM, and microSD card slot. The power button is placed on the right edge.

On the lower edge, 3.5 mm from left to right respectively. It features a headphone jack, microphone, USB-C jack, and speaker grille. Although the loudness of the sound coming out of this speaker grille is good, it can be said that the quality is average.

The plastic-coated back panel of Realme 7 Pro looks stylish and simple. It is worth noting that the back panel, which supports the comfortable grip, shows a little too many fingerprints. There is a rectangular camera module in the upper left corner of the dual-tone back panel. Here are four cameras, the details of which will be discussed later.

As far as display is concerned, Samsung A71 comes with a 6.7 Super AMOLED Plus display.  It also called and it is called Infinity-O Display due to the punch hole camera design. It occupies 87% of the front of the device. Samsung Galaxy A71 has 1080 x 2400 resolution with 393 PPi.

The screen is very similar to the screen of the Note 10 Lite. The screen has a 20: 9 aspect ratio. We saw the same values in last year's A70 model. This screen has a high brightness. Although the quality difference is felt compared to the Dynamic OLED screen used in a high-end Samsung phone such as the Galaxy S20 Plus, it manages to offer a very pleasant color richness and vividness when used in Live mode. The reflection of the screen glass was a little more than normal. The reflection of the light falling on the screen in a bright environment can affect the vision even if the screen brightness is at maximum. Despite this, we did not have much trouble using the screen outside.

The high brightness of the screen allows good HDR videos on YouTube. The colors and clarity really impress me when watching these videos. Netflix does not support HDR, but HD content support is available. The camera hole at the top of the screen does not cause much trouble when viewing content in full screen.

On the audio side, we see that a single speaker is presented on the lower edge of the Galaxy A71. This speaker offers a loudness above the smartphone average. At the same time, the fullness is good, the treble and bass are not overdone. It will work especially when watching YouTube videos. The presence of the 3.5mm headphone jack shows that the options will be rich when listening to music or watching movies with headphones.

On the flip side,  Realme 7 Pro has a 6.4-inch screen. This screen takes up 82.7 percent of the front of the phone. The Super AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The pixel density of the screen with the aspect ratio of 20: 9 in 411 PPI.

Realme 7 Pro has an "Always On Display" feature. This means that the screen can show the time and icons for incoming notifications at any time. There is a round camera hole in the upper left corner of the screen. It also includes an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The refresh rate of the screen in Realme 7 Pro is 60Hz. The Realme 6 Pro had a 6.6-inch screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. An interesting choice is that the company shrinks the screen and reduces the refresh rate when switching to the AMOLED panel. However, in a previous statement from Realme, it was stated that this change was made in line with the feedback from users.

The maximum brightness level of the Realme 7 Pro's screen is measured at 459 nits. However, this goes up to 585 nits when auto-brightness is active. The screen brightness of the smartphone is automatically adjusted according to the light level of the environment.

Realme 7 Pro offers three different options for screen color. These options are called Great, Vivid, and Gentle. In its wonderful mode, users face a wider color scale for brighter colors. In Vivid mode, P3 mode is activated for richer colors. In Kibar, on the other hand, sRGB mode is switched for simpler colors.

It can be said that the screen of the Realme 7 Pro is very pleasant for gaming and multimedia content consumption. Although it is a bit annoying that the refresh rate goes down to 60Hz, the color vibrancy of the Super AMOLED panel is quite high and the viewing angles are also quite sufficient. There is no problem in seeing the screen of the phone outdoors under sunlight.

 Operating System and Process.

Both phones offer the ultimate good processors for daily use. Samsung Galaxy A71 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.  The A71 CPU comes with 8 cores with 8nm build. Whereas The Realme 7 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 720G. It comes with 8 cores and 8nm build.

Regarding the GPU, Samsung Galaxy A71 has the Adreno 618. While Realme 7 Pro has the Adreno 618.

In Geekbench 5, the CPU scored 542 for single-core and 1569 for multicores. While Realme 7 Pro GPU scored 858 for single-core and 1800 for multicores.

PUBG started with high settings, and the smoothness was good. The device supports Game Booster Mode, where it helps you manage the battery performance while gaming. You can also check the device temperature, record the screen while playing to share it with others.

Regarding the Realme 7 Pro is not a gaming phone, it manages to run many games easily thanks to its technical hardware. A powerful game like PUBG Mobile and a game like Among Us, which has recently grown in popularity, can be played with Realme 7 Pro without any trouble. The Playground, which is available on all phones of Oppo and Realme, is also available on Realme 7 Pro. Thanks to this feature, users can quickly make arrangements to increase game performance on the phone.

According to the operating system, Samsung Galaxy A71 runs on Android 10 with Samsung's famous UI 2.1, which is light and easy to deal with. We do not yet see some One UI 2.1 innovations, such as Samsung Daily or Quick Share, which Samsung has presented with the Galaxy S20 series and brought to the S10 series with the update in March. However, we expect these changes to come soon.

You can place Bixby Home on the leftmost panel on the home screen, where you can see news or streaming information from various apps. It comes loaded with various applications from Samsung. Likewise, various Google and Microsoft applications are available. You can download and install apps or games from Galaxy Store or Google Play Store. It also comes loaded with various popular apps such as Facebook, Netflix, Spotify, as well as other Samsung phones.

With a one-handed mode, you can control Galaxy A71's big screen more comfortably. At the same time, with One UI 2, navigation in the user interface has been made a little easier with touch gestures. In this way, you can hide the navigation bar, which is normally located at the bottom edge of the screen, and add this area to the user interface.

Instead, Realme 7 Pro comes out of the box with the Android 10 operating system. Complementing this operating system is the Realme UI user interface. Realme UI does not differ much from pure Android in terms of the main user experience, but it is noticeable that there is an intense customization in the icon and interface design.

As we mentioned in previous Realme phone reviews, the Realme UI is generally a clean and organized user interface. The number of tools and applications that are preloaded in Realme 7 Pro is quite high. However, most of these applications do not create a feeling of “excess”. However, users can remove these applications from the phone if they wish.

Google applications available on almost every Android phone are waiting for users in Realme 7 Pro. There are applications such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Photos in the Google folder on the home screen.

Some Android manufacturers use Google's application as the default solution instead of developing their own solutions. Realme is also known to prefer this approach. We see that this approach is also applied in Realme 7 Pro.

For example, Google Chrome is used as the default internet browser on the phone. As an e-mail application, Gmail comes across to users. However, Realme's own solutions are offered to users in applications such as photos, messages, and phones.

Realme 7 Pro also has many tools preloaded. In the Tools folder on the home screen of the application, there are tools such as Calculator, Weather, Compass, and Recorder. However, some tools are also shown outside of this folder. The Phone Manager application, which functions as a control panel for Realme 7 Pro, can be accessed on the home screen. It is worth noting that one of the pre-installed applications on the smartphone is Facebook.

Through this application, users can optimize the phone with a single touch. Operations such as managing privacy permissions and applications, and controlling components can also be done here. Component control performed by the tool called Quick Check makes it possible to quickly see if there is a problem in terms of hardware and software on the phone.

There are also tools such as File Manager and Download Manager to assist users in the smartphone. Thanks to these tools, it is easier for users to keep their phones organized. The Phone Duplicator tool is used to make it easier to transfer data from old phones to Realme 7 Pro.

As we mentioned before, one of the tools offered in Realme 7 Pro is the Playground. Users can see all the games they have installed on their phones through the Playground. The selection of the performance mode to be active during the games can also be made through the Game Area. Settings for rejection or blocking of incoming calls and notifications while playing games are also made through this menu.

Gestures or other gestures also help to interact with the phone in Realme 7 Pro. For example, when the screen is off, the camera can be started by drawing the letter O on it. Or, a quick screenshot can be taken when three fingers slide down the screen. In addition, the smartphone can be set to activate the Google Assistant when the power button is pressed for 0.5 seconds.

 Security and Ports.

For security, Galaxy A71 has a fingerprint reader built into the screen. This component works fast, has good sensitivity. It allows us to quickly bypass the screen lock, and we usually used this to unlock the screen on our Galaxy A71. You can also get help from the facial recognition system, but its security level will be slightly lower. The A71 also supports the classical unlocking methods such as pattern and passcode.

On the other side of the coin, Realme 7 Pro has both a face recognition feature and fingerprint scanner integrated into the screen as a biometric verification solution. The fingerprint scanner integrated into the screen works very quickly. After the fingerprint is recognized, the screen is unlocked within milliseconds. The integration of the fingerprint scanner on the screen brings the phone closer to the upper segment and provides a serious convenience in these times when we are walking outside with a mask.

Realme 7 Pro's facial recognition feature also works pretty fast. Realme 7 Pro, which manages to recognize your face even if you are in a completely dark room, instantly removes the screen lock. Considering that sometimes even high-end phones cannot perform this performance, Realme 7 Pro deserves applause. The phone also supports classical unlocking methods such as pattern and passcode.

As for ports, the device supports Bluetooth 5 and NFC. It supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling. The device comes with a USB-C port, which helps in quick charging. It supports  a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Whereas the Realme 7 Pro supports Bluetooth 5. It also supports VoLTE, NFC, and WiFi Calling.  It also supports a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

 Battery and charging.

Realme 7 Pro provides a powerful Li-Po 4500mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy A71 holds an even more powerful Li-Po 4500mAh battery. And both phones offer fast charging.

The A71 battery easily takes a day out in normal intensity use. At the same time, it may be possible to spend even the second day on a single charge by taking advantage of power-saving modes when used sparingly and when necessary.

A 25W charger adapter comes out of the box. It is possible to reach 50 percent of these adapters in half an hour. It reaches full capacity in just over an hour. In fact, with this fast charging performance, charging is no longer a hassle. When the battery of the phone is low, you can reach the level that will help most of the day by charging it for a short time. Wireless charging support is not available on Galaxy A71.

Contrastingly, as  it is seen that the Realme 7 Pro can play videos continuously for 18 hours and 10 minutes, enables web browsing for 16 hours and 12 minutes, and can be used to make phone calls for 35 hours and 48 minutes. The working time of the phone in standby mode is given as 113 hours.

Actual usage values of Realme 7 Pro also coincide with the tests. The smartphone easily takes a day off in an average-intensive usage scenario. In this scenario, in addition to standard tasks such as talking on the phone and taking photos, there are actions such as listening to music on Spotify, watching 30 minutes of videos from YouTube and 22 minutes of TV series on Netflix, using social media applications, surfing the internet, texting and playing games for 1 hour.

One of the most important features of Realme 7 Pro is 65W SuperDart fast charging support, which Realme also emphasizes. According to Realme's data, thanks to this technology, the phone's 4500 mAh battery reaches 50 percent in 12 minutes when it is completely empty. It takes 34 minutes for a full charge.

Real values also coincide with what Realme gives. When we plug the phone to charge when its battery is 10 percent charged, it reaches 50 percent charge within 10 minutes. In 33 minutes, the battery of the phone is fully charged.

Samsung Galaxy A71 and Realme 7 Pro which one is the king?

Samsung Galaxy A71 has Quad rear cameras, as clarified: 64Mp (wide with f\1.8), 12MP (ultrawide with f\2.2, 5MP (macro with f\2.4), and 5MP (depth with f\2.2). Samsung A71 has a 32MP wide front-facing camera with f\2.2. The cameras come with LED flash, AI support, and HDR. HDR technology will help you when there's sunlight behind you. HDR will edit the photo and balance the brightness.

In contrast, Realme 7 Pro has Quad rear cameras, 8MP( utrawide with f\2.2), 64MP ( wide with f\1.8), 2MP ( macro with f\2.4), and 2MP ( depth with f\2.4). On the front, you see a 32MP camera with f\2.5.

The 64 MP ISOCEL GW1 sensor uses pixel binning and therefore assembles 4 pixels in 1 to improve the quality of the shots, especially in low light. By default, the sensor then produces 16MP photos.

In broad daylight, the A71 is doing honorably, with a notable sharpness, limited optical aberrations, and a very correct level of detail. However, the photo is not natural enough and is clearly red; we recognize there the leg of Samsung. Opposite, the very good Xiaomi Mi Note 10 offers a more natural result with better-controlled colorimetry and less forced contrasts.

The A71 is more difficult when the light is lacking. Despite a high definition sensor and the use of pixel binning, the cell phone does not compare with the Mi Note 10. The image seems a little underexposed and the strong smoothing almost makes you think that a layer of fat covers the 'goal. Finally, the level of detail is not good enough, especially considering what the Mi Note 10 provides. The sharpness of the Chinese mobile is so superior that the photo of the A71 seems blurry. This result in low light is a real disappointment.

Or rather, The quality of shooting in automatic mode on the main module, as expected, depends on the quality of lighting, if it is enough, then detailed shots with a small amount of noise are obtained, the dynamic range is at a decent level, if desired, it can be slightly corrected with the option "Vivid AI the case there are misses with the color rendition. So it is better to turn it on when, according to the sensations, one or another shade needs to add saturation. If you shoot in full resolution mode, the detail becomes richer, and the amount of noise increases. If you do not strive for the number of pixels, then the auto mode with 16-megapixel frames will also suit. Portrait shooting is also on the level, with high-quality bokeh and good contrast.

Ultra wide-angle mods rarely produce flattering results, especially when we're looking at 100% shots. The A71 is no exception to the rule. The shot lacks sharpness and the barrel distortions are very marked. The fish-eye effect is then quite pronounced on this 12 mm equivalent in 24x36. Opposite, the Xiaomi, thanks to a more defined sensor, more successful software processing, and optics providing less distortion, offers a much sharper and more detailed image.

Under 3 lux lighting, the UGA module shows its limits even more. To all the faults already mentioned is added excessive smoothing which removes any realistic aspect from the photo, even if most of the details of the scene are identifiable. However, we couldn't be too hard on this Samsung, as rare devices produce ideal results under these conditions.

Nevertheless,  The 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens has replaced the telephoto lens in both. This fact is likely to confuse some users, for example, those who often do subject photography. There are no questions about the quality of frames, except that at times the white balance "dances", well, there are usually questions about the dynamic range. But visual artifacts and noise are minimal. The auxiliary lenses are unremarkable, the depth sensor works flawlessly.

The 5MP macro module can come in handy for capturing details of an object or flower. However, as often with this kind of system on a smartphone, the shadow cast by the mobile associated with the short focal length of the lens means that you cannot get as close as you would like to achieve a beautiful macro shot.

Several filters for night photography ("Cyberpunk", "Flamingo" and "Modern Gold") have been added to the camera software, they change the color scheme, it turns out in a peculiar way, it is interesting for social networks and similar creativity. Video shooting received a new AI Color Portrait mode, it allows you to select red, blue, or green when shooting, and leave other objects in black and white. In the process of shooting, you can take a photo, which I did not fail to use. In general, you can indulge, the idea on the market is not new, I have encountered a similar option in Moto devices. Support for two modes of stabilization when shooting video is also in place, as well as fast and slow motion. There are also modes for night shooting: normal and tripod mode with a shutter speed of about 40 seconds.

On the front, it's a 32-megapixel sensor that acts as a selfie machine. It is equipped with a lens equivalent to 26 mm and opening at f / 2.2. The level of detail is quite good, but the face smoothing activated by default is a little too strong and we recommend to deactivate it (except for personal preferences).

Inversely, The front camera of the realme 7 Pro received a resolution of 32 megapixels, the ultra-wide-angle was abandoned here, apparently, the users also decided this when voting. I do not exclude the moment with the price, they could have decided to leave one camera for a more adequate price tag. The module produces quite adequate quality frames, especially if you look at colors and contrast. The dynamic range is also pleasing, but the detailing fails in places. Face unlocking is fast, but the print on the screen is a little faster and, of course, more reliable.

the portrait mode is quite convincing, the clipping is well done and the background blur is rather natural.

For the video part, the Samsung Galaxy A71 is capable of recording up to 4K at 30 fps. Note that it can also capture sequences in 240 fps or 960 fps in Full HD. We regret the lack of optical stabilization. Only digital stabilization is present, and it does not work in 4K or in low light.

Samsung Galaxy A71 and Realme 7 Pro which one is the king?

It is possible to find the Samsung Galaxy A71 in the market for around 365.00USD. With its design, it doesn't look like Samsung's higher segment phones. Although its main material is plastic, we see that it does not make the phone lose its air too much. The prism design on the back also adds a different atmosphere to the Android phone. Although the screen is not at the level of high-end Samsung phones, it offers a good visual enjoyment with bright and vivid images. Although there is only one speaker, the sound output quality and intensity of it are also satisfactory.

Its performance is sufficient for daily work, but it will also be sufficient for most users in gaming. The battery also removes a day easily, which must be the most important criterion. Fast charging support is also a significant plus. The lack of wireless charging support is not a big loss. The fact that it comes with two up-to-date software components such as Android 10 and One UI 2 is among the pros of the Galaxy A71. The classic Samsung user experience is also waiting for those who will own this phone.

Galaxy A71's quad rear camera system surprises us with its performance. We took very satisfying photos in different lighting conditions. On the video side, the performance is satisfactory. Buyers of this phone will appreciate the camera performance.

Since it is a Samsung phone, the price may be higher compared to devices with the same level of technical features. The difference is Samsung's after-sales service support and, if you have a TV or other Samsung devices in your home, it is given the advantage of communicating with them easily.

Nonetheless,  It can be said that Realme 7 Pro is not a typical follower. Compared to Realme 6 Pro, there are many features that can be described as "step back" in the smartphone. Although the transition to the Super AMOLED screen is a pleasing choice, the reduction of the screen refresh rate from 90Hz to 60Hz and abandoning the telephoto camera can be described as a step back.

Nevertheless, it can be safely said that the Realme 7 Pro is an affordable and powerful mid-segment phone. The screen, the design, the battery life, and especially the high charging speed are the highlights of the smartphone. It would not be wrong to say that the smartphone performs reasonably and the quality of the photos taken with its camera is also good.

We can say that the Realme 7 Pro functions as an "expansion pack" rather than an upgrade compared to the Realme 6 Pro. Features such as Super AMOLED display and 65W SuperDart fast charging show that Realme is successful in this regard. What do you think? Have you lied an eye on either of those smartphones? Do you recommend them? Share your thoughts in the comments section below
